We are seeking a highly skilled First Cook with extensive experience in kitchen operations and a strong background in both hot and cold preparations. This role requires advanced culinary expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to oversee multiple stations efficiently. The ideal candidate will ensure the highest standards of quality, train junior staff, assist in menu development, and contribute to maintaining smooth operations in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen.
This position demands excellent organizational abilities, a deep understanding of food safety practices, and the capacity to maintain consistency across all dishes while mentoring a team to achieve excellence.
Responsibilities
Oversee daily kitchen operations to ensure efficiency and high standards of service.
Prepare and cook hot and cold dishes in accordance with restaurant recipes and quality standards.
Manage mise en place for all stations to ensure readiness before service.
Supervise and mentor junior kitchen staff, providing guidance and training.
Monitor food preparation and presentation to ensure consistency and quality.
Maintain inventory control and coordinate with management for ordering supplies.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
Assist in menu planning, recipe development, and implementing seasonal specials.
Troubleshoot kitchen issues and implement solutions quickly to avoid service delays
Foster a collaborative and positive kitchen environment, promoting teamwork and communication.
Manage of the Kitchen when is need it.
Experience
Minimum 1 years of proven experience in professional kitchens, preferably as a First Cook or in a senior cook position.
Valid work permit or legal authorization to work in Canada
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Advanced knowledge of food safety, hygiene, portion control, and kitchen operations.
Proven ability to work under pressure in a high-volume environment.
Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Strong knife skills and expertise in multiple cooking techniques.
Ability to train, mentor, and supervise junior kitchen staff.
Creativity and passion for food presentation and menu innovation.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.20-$26.02 per hour
Expected hours: 40 - 44 per week
