Levitt-Safety has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Sprinkler Technician to join our team in Fort McMurray, Alberta.
This is a compressed work schedule, working 14 days on and then 14 days off, 12-hour days. Flights and accommodation are paid and provided for.
Job Summary
As the Fire Sprinkler Technician you will be responsible for the inspection of fire sprinkler systems and components in commercial and industrial fire protection and will perform both routine and preventive maintenance on systems including wet and dry systems, pre-action systems, fire pumps, fire hydrants, backflow preventers and special hazard systems.
Main Responsibilities
Preparation of all aspects of monthly, semiannual, and annual preventative maintenance plans.
Fire pump inspections and testing.
Sprinkler system repair, inspections, and testing.
Standpipe inspections and testing.
Fire hydrant inspections and maintenance.
Fire suppression system inspections and testing.
Provide a preventative maintenance schedule for review and approval.
Provide documented monthly reports on all maintenance, inspections, tests etc.
Coordinate between customer and supervisor on work scope and parts requirements.
Perform work following all O.H. & S. Acts and Regulations.
Complete work in a professional and timely manner.
Attend to emergency calls.
Participate in the development of JHAs and safe work practices relevant to the position.
Assist in the installation, maintenance, and operation of fire alarm systems and components
Job Requirements
Red Seal Journeyman Fire Sprinkler with 3 to 5 years industry experience
Experienced in the install/service/repair of wet and dry pre action, deluge, and specialty fire suppression systems
Excellent troubleshooting skills
Must have excellent organizational and multi-tasking abilities
Must be able to successfully pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening, clear site access and have a clean driving record and background.
The ideal candidate will have experience or certification in one or more of the following areas:
Foam system inspection and installation certificate/trained
Certificate/trained in back flow prevention
Working knowledge of fire alarm panels
Be able to test and service fire pumps and fire hydrants

Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. unassisted, coupled with good hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity
Work in restricted spaces such as engine compartments
Work on heights on large mine equipment using ladders and walkways
Driving and sitting for extended periods of time
Frequent walking on uneven terrain on customer sites
