The Opportunity
: The Financial Services Accountant is responsible for ensuring that the financial information being recorded in the College's general ledger is accurate and in accordance with college Policies and Procedures and that a sufficient audit trail is maintained. This incumbent is responsible for producing journal entries, semester and year-end reporting, including: working papers and documented support for accounting transactions. This position is a resource to all components of Financial Services. The Financial Services Accountant will assist with the collection, entry, verification, analysis, maintenance and manipulation of data required to maintain the College's financial processes and to assist the Director, Enrolment and Financial Services in completion of required reporting responsibilities.
What you need to be successful:
degree or diploma in accounting or a related field
+ an accounting designation preferred minimum three years demonstrated accounting experience analyzing financial data
experience in the following:
+ preparing of journal entries
+ maintaining a general ledger
+ assisting in the production of quarterly and year-end financial statements demonstrated experience working with spreadsheets and Excel at an intermediate level
strong knowledge of fund accounting and working in such an environment an asset
good mathematical skills
strong interpersonal skills to work effectively within a collaborative team environment
strong commitment to customer service
This is an Appendix D full-time support staff position, Payband G - $34.60 - $39.93/hour (starting rate $34.60/hour), 35 hours/week.
