We're looking for our next Financial Reporting Analyst. Could it be you?

The Financial Reporting Analyst is a key member of the finance team, supporting regulatory reporting and related processes for CTC and the future Bank. The purpose of this role is to provide support to the Controllership Group to prepare various regulatory reports for the Trust and the future Bank, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines. This role requires collaboration with finance team members, other business units, and the business intelligence team to develop and prepare key regulatory reports. This role necessitates advanced Excel skills, including VBA editing, Power BI, Power Query, SQL, XML, and database creation. Additionally, the candidate must possess a keen eye for detail and financial reporting experience within a financial institution.

In this role, responsibilities include but are not limited to:



Regulatory Reporting and Compliance

Accurate and timely preparation of all reports to the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI). Accurate and timely preparation of reports to other Canadian regulators like CMHC, CDIC, Stats Canada, and the Bank of Canada. Maintaining a thorough understanding of evolving regulatory reporting standards and implementing necessary changes. Creating and maintaining a database to support regulatory and other ad-hoc reports and performing ETL operations on large databases. Gathering, analyzing, and validating financial data from various sources to ensure accuracy and completeness of regulatory reports. Performing reconciliations and variance analysis to ensure data integrity. Identifying and recommending process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of regulatory reporting processes. Assisting in the development and implementation of internal controls to ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements. Participating in external, internal and regulatory audits as applicable. Documenting and maintaining up-to-date procedures and process flows.

Database Creation & Management

Creating and maintaining a database which will be used to support regulatory and other ad-hoc reports, perform ETL operations on large databases. Documenting development and usage of such databases. Working across business units to refine databases and create customized reports for regulatory reporting purposes. Knowledge of VBA editing, Power Query, SQL, XML, etc; Proficiency in utilizing BI tools for creation of reports, scorecards, dashboards and other solutions (MS Excel Power BI, DAX Query, Prospector, Delta 360, Portfolio Plus, etc.).

Data Analysis and Validation

Gathering, analyzing, and validating financial data from various sources to ensure accuracy and completeness of regulatory reports. Identifying and investigating data discrepancies and implementing corrective actions. Performing reconciliations and variance analysis to ensure data integrity. Creating and validating data quality reports. Working with the Business Intelligence team to support development of new reports or enhance or change existing reports. Identifying and recommending process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of regulatory reporting processes. Participating in system implementations and upgrades related to regulatory reporting. Collaborating with various departments to gather necessary data and information. Communicating effectively with regulatory bodies and internal stakeholders. Providing support and training to other team members as needed.

Have advanced level MS Excel skills and knowledge of VBA editing, SQL, XML Are an expert in working with databases and creating reports in Power BI Have 3+ years of financial and management reporting experience, preferably within the Canadian banking or trust industry Have strong proficiency in financial analysis, data validation, and problem-solving, with impeccable attention to detail and accuracy Are able to work independently and collaboratively, while building strong working relationships and communicating effectively

Have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field Have a professional accounting designation (CPA) or are actively pursuing one Have an understanding of Canadian regulatory reporting requirements, including OSFI and Bank of Canada guidelines
