Financial Reporting Analyst

Alberta Innovates is seeking a financial reporting analyst in our finance team. The incumbent will interpret financial data to assist managers and leaders in key decisions and provide forecasting and reporting to corporate finance as well as other general financial matters to support the organization

Job Details

Responsibilites include, but are not limited to the following:

Forecasting, Budgeting and Reporting:
  • Prepare templates and reporting to support the organization\xe2\x80\x99s forecast and budget process
  • Provide variance analysis as required.
  • Prepare monthly information and reports to support business areas and corporate finance as required
  • Provide, interpret and analyze financial information
Area Analysis:
  • Review contracts and amendments to confirm payments, future commitments and to ensure the corporate policies have been followed
  • Compile contractual obligations and rights for the year-end annual report and for the audit (if applicable)
  • Provide analysis on program areas
  • Prepare adjustments and support as required
Other Financial duties/Ad-hoc requests:
  • Month end close procedures including but not limited to preforming complex reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Provide daily financial advice and support to program areas and corporate finance as required.
  • Liaison between finance department and business units concerning financial matters
  • Provide ad hoc reports or information as requested
Qualifications and skills we are looking for:
  • University degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Designation as a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) is required
  • Minimum of 3, preferably 5 years related accounting experience
  • Strong accounting skills and the ability to interpret financial reports is required
  • Strong analytical and detail oriented skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a changing environment
