As a Financial and Regulatory Strategist, you will provide financial and regulatory expertise for corporate and budget office projects and initiatives. This will require you to build relationships and work collaboratively with other areas of the Corporation as well as solicit and provide information to various internal and external partners. As part of the Finance business unit, you will support these projects and initiatives. Primary duties include:
Lead and support strategic financial initiatives for the Corporate Budget Office such as new budget cycles, annual budget adjustments, position and statistical based budgeting, contingency management and the strategic review of reserves.
Conduct financial analysis, review, verification of funds usage, and prepare reports for senior management and Council to support corporate financial plans, reserve and contingency usage, policies, stewardship of budget, and investment decisions while considering sensitivity and confidentiality.
Build cohesive partnerships and engage with internal and external partners. Liaise with provincial and federal government on grants, disaster recoveries, education tax and other funding opportunities.
Support the research and development of the financial and regulatory aspects of legislative change, including the participation in discussions with internal and external partners.
Support the review, development, implementation and monitoring of Council and Administrative policies and processes.
Develop and facilitate coaching and training protocols to new and existing finance staff, advisory services to operational staff and associated external parties on an ongoing basis.
