  • Documenting and organizing various documents: distinguishing between personal and corporately owned accounts. Understanding insurance policy statements and reading the fine print to determine if any exceptions or exclusions exist. o
  • Personal Net Worth: Creating net worth statements using financial statements, investment statements, mortgage statements, and pension statements. Reading and interpreting documents for ACB and FMV amounts.
  • Organization Charts: using shareholder registries and agreements to label and value various shareholder classes and amounts. Using the appropriate naming and design conventions.
  • Reading and summarizing wills and powers of attorney: distinguishing between limited and secondary wills. Summarizing the main details; as Executor, Trustee, and guardians, main clauses such as if both spouses pass away, assets for minor children, etc.
  • Understanding and reading Trust documents and the tax implications that can occur when it\xe2\x80\x99s time to wind up.
  • Financial planning software: using RazorPlan to project estate worth, estate tax obligation, retirement income drawdown, etc. Understand the different streams of income a person can have and their tax implications (ex. Salary, dividends, Disability benefits, CPP, pension income).
  • Capital Needs Analysis: using client notes and statements to create a capital needs analysis that takes into account client objectives, goals, and values to establish the necessary need for life insurance (or if not needed) for a client and their family.
Investments:
  • Coordinating with portfolio managers to ensure KYC compliance is up to date and to ensure the clients\xe2\x80\x99 information is current and relevant. Assist in opening new accounts with all the necessary client information.
  • Help set up monthly or yearly contributions to registered plans. Keep track of contributions to ensure no overage fees are incurred.
  • Organize and assist with withdrawals, and any registered funds are monitored for tax receipt purposes. Keep track of RESP withdrawals between contributions, grants, and growth amounts.
  • Arrange any account transfers between portfolio managers. Have the required paperwork completed with accuracy to ensure no taxation issues are experienced for registered accounts.
  • Keep on top of new product offerings by the various carriers. Reading newsletters, quarterly reports, and any new product offerings. Taking note of promotional accounts and offers and the various rates being offered.
Client Experience:
  • Inquiries: you will be the frontline person to help clients by fielding their questions and requests.
  • Processing Requests: you will lead the charge preparing and processing requests for all things related to existing insurance contracts (ex. payment changes, ownership and beneficiary changes, loan requests, collateral requests).
  • Annual review preparation: you will assist with client reports by preparing Estate Summaries and Net Worth statements, and by procuring quarterly and annual investment reports from various portfolio management partners.
Insurance \xe2\x80\x93 individual:
  • Insurance applications: you will handle application processing from application completion to policy placement by coordinating any client medical requirements, financial requirements, following up with clients and product carriers, securing premium payment, reviewing, and delivering contracts to clients.
  • Insurance Proposals: researching and comparing various insurance policies across different carriers. Running various illustrations and narrowing down to the best 4-5 options, depending on each client scenario and objectives. Use Life Design Analysis to compare different products, and customized excel reports and tables.
  • Disability coverage increases: you will lead the process from completion of the application form and all the financial underwriting required, until approval.
  • Claims: you will coordinate life and living benefits claims.
  • Cash surrender values: you will take charge of cash surrender value requests for corporately owned life insurance policies and provide the information to clients and their tax accountants.
Miscellaneous Stuff \xe2\x80\x93 you will:
  • File your work (both electronic and paper, although more and more electronic). \\
  • Anticipate the advisor\xe2\x80\x99s needs and client meeting documents by reading previous notes and emails.
  • Open and distribute mail to the proper recipient. o Send out mail through the appropriate channels (ie. Canada Post, ICS, Personal Touch)
  • Prepare/repair meeting room before/after client meetings.
  • Create client folders and binders.
  • Contact and request documents from appropriate lawyers and accountants (i.e. Financial statements, wills, POAs, shareholder agreements, shareholder registries, tax returns, NOAs)
  • Coordinate technical issues with IT partners and troubleshoot.
  • Stay on top of various carriers\xe2\x80\x99 product features by reading newsletters and attending regular webinars to understand the changes and promotions of each carrier.
Special Projects: you may be asked to participate in special projects. About you:

  • You understand financial industry language and how the stock market, mutual funds, bonds, options, GICs, and interest rates work \xe2\x80\x93 you are Financially Fluent.

Educational / Licensing Requirements:
  • You have a diploma or degree in accounting or finance.
  • You must have your Life License (LLQP), or willing to earn it.
