Compensation: $68,357 per annum + Competitive Financial Planner compensation plan

Servus is growing! We are currently looking for a Financial Planner in our St. Paul, Alberta, market.

Reporting to the Regional Manager Wealth, they thrive in a fast-paced environment working closely with external sources to build connections and centers of influence. A Financial Planner develops strong community connections and focuses their energy on activities that will support our ongoing efforts of growing relationships. They are actively involved in various business networks in and around Edmonton generating new business through financial fitness conversations. Our Financial Planners get to know our members and gather information related to their goals. Through financial analysis they develop a financial plan that supports members through to retirement. Because they have their mutual funds license, they can offer our members a variety of products that suit their needs. Building relationships and communication is one of their strengths because they have a genuine desire to help people reach their investment goals. With a genuine desire to build relationships and help our members find investment products to meet their needs, you play an integral role in shaping member's financial fitness.

More specifically, the scope of your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Delivering the full financial planning experience by implementing the CFP's six steps of financial planning, including: discovery, gathering data, analysis, presentation of the financial plan, implementation, and ongoing monitoring (annual reviews)
  • Maintain up to date Financial Planning and investment industry knowledge by participating in training programs/industry courses to upgrade skills, obtain and maintain accreditation and licensing requirements.
  • Be proactive in pursuing external/internal business opportunities including retention of existing member base and actively soliciting new business, reviewing marketing data to determine new market potential, and leveraging opportunities with existing members through in branch/telephone communication
  • Monitor and ensure personal and corporate goals are met or exceeded
  • On behalf of Wealth, actively participate and demonstrate leadership in the branch, market and community - always with a member-centric focus - doing what's right for the member.
  • Ensure all corporate policies, procedures and guidelines are adhered to including compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements to mitigate the risk of loss to the Credit Union and members.
Requirements

To qualify, you will need at least 2 years' experience within the financial industry as well as thorough knowledge of financial planning, products, policies, procedures and operations

The following education/certificates are also required:
  • Responsible Investment Specialist (RIS) designation
  • Financial Planning designation (CFP)
  • Investment Funds in Canada
