Financial Planner

The opportunity:

Reporting to Senior Investment Advisors at Cresco Wealth Management, the Financial Planner will be responsible for the creation, execution and maintenance of comprehensive financial plans and goals-based reporting for the team’s clients.
The incumbent will play an integral role in business development and providing value added services and will have previous experience dealing with High Net Worth and Ultra High Net Worth Clients.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Meeting with existing and potential clients, completing in-depth fact finding.
  • Helping clients to discover and articulate their short- and long-term goals.
  • Creating the financial planning process and continually look for ways to improve it to enhance the client experience.
  • Preparing and mailing introduction packages with an engagement letter, document request and Wealth Questionnaire.
  • Entering client information into planning software and generating financial plans.
  • Setting, reviewing, scheduling, assessing progress or implementation of recommendations, or addressing changes to client situation.
  • Working closely with client’s other professional advisors (lawyers, accountants, etc.) to ensure that client is receiving holistic advice.
  • Recognizing the importance of multi-generational wealth management.
  • Focusing on building relationships with children, grandchildren, and siblings of current clients.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with Centers of Influence.
  • Identifying outside assets and referral opportunities.
  • Integrating all areas of financial planning, including cash flow, investment planning, education planning, insurance and risk management, retirement planning, tax planning and estate planning.
  • Co-ordinating value-added services to enhance the client experience (ex: acknowledgement of birthdays, weddings, deaths, etc.).
  • Maintaining client files, ensuring that all documents and notes are compliant with industry requirements.
  • Acting as a resource person for team members.
  • Attending client events.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A degree or diploma in business administration, accounting, finance, or similar field of study.
  • 5+ years’ experience as a Licensed Associate.
  • Insurance licensing, or currently in the process of pursuing insurance licensing.
  • A professional designation such as CFP; possessing CPA and/or TEP designations are a strong asset.
  • An accounting, tax, and/or insurance background is an asset.
  • A commitment to fulfilling continuing education requirements.
  • In-depth knowledge of industry rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and a commitment stay abreast of changes.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • A desire to go above and beyond to exceed client expectations.
  • An ability to exhibit a level of professionalism that allows clients to feel comfortable and able to discuss personal information.
  • A genuine interest in serving and caring for other people.
  • A reliable, consistent work ethic.
