Position Overview:
As a key member of the Client and Product Profitability team, conduct profitability analysis for existing clients, prospective clients, and products. Manage the ongoing evolution of the cost model based on Activity Based Cost principles and the evolving service operating model at CIBC Mellon. Analysis will lead to key insights allowing for proactive management actions. The nature of the role requires a combination of finance and accounting skills along with a solid understanding of database principles.
Responsibilities:
Prepare client and product profitability (CPP) reports by consolidating data from various sources, update and upload inputs to the CPP models and validate results.
Provide senior leadership team with informative business commentary of the client and product profitability (CPP), highlighting opportunities for growth and improvements.
Conduct financial reviews of business cases, repricing analysis, upsell / cross-sell opportunities and ad-hoc analysis for various strategic initiatives to drive improvement in revenue and profitability.
Assist in preparing communications and presentation for senior leadership to share insights on both scheduled and ad-hoc basis, including client dashboards, trend & scenario analysis, cost-benefit analysis, variance analysis and driver-based modeling.
Work closely with senior leaders in Finance and business units to work cross-functionally and use data insights to drive better decision-making across the whole organization.
Implement, maintain and enhance management reporting formats, controls and processes, in consideration of internal, regulatory and compliance requirements (i.e. Shareholders, Board, OSFI, etc.) and drive continuous improvement through automating functions and finding scalable solutions.
Qualifications:
Undergraduate business degree with or working towards a professional accounting designation (CA, CGA or CMA) or CFA or MBA
3-5 years of progressive experience in accounting, financial planning, analysis and management financial reporting
Advanced skills in Excel, database knowledge (Access), and experience with Tableau
Deep understanding of Activity Base Costing principles and application
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills along with excellent interpersonal skills including written and oral communication ability
Experience in a similar role preferably in the financial services industry
Exposure to integrated ERP systems; SAP PCM or SAS CPM; data extraction (Extract, Transform, Load)
