JOB SUMMARY
The
Financial Operations Manager plays
a key role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the organization. Working within a fast-paced manufacturing, e-commerce and distribution environment, this position is responsible for general ledger accounting, inventory and cost accounting, reconciliations, financial reporting, and compliance activities. The ability to drive process improvement initiatives to support the organization's financial health and operational efficiency is necessary. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the incumbent ensures accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial data to support management decision-making.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Actively process and manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management with support from a small financial team
Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
Manage cash flow forecasting, banking relationships, etc.
Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and corporate policies
Provide guidance and financial oversight to the purchasing functions
Develop and maintain strong internal controls and financial procedures
Assist and support the preparation and analysis of financial reports and metrics, including monthly gross profit and operating expenses - versus budget and versus prior year
Collaborate with operations and warehouse teams to resolve inventory discrepancies and lead year-end physical inventory count process
Prepare and submit government filings and update reporting inquiries as necessary (e.g., GST/HST)
Support cost accounting functions, including standard cost maintenance, variance analysis, and inventory valuation
Support annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes while analyzing ongoing variances
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline financial processes and implement best practices
Oversee financial system implementation, upgrades, and automation initiatives.
Assist and support in any audits as required
Provide leadership, training, and mentorship to finance staff and financial guidance to the GM
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
4+ years of experience in financial operations, with at least 2 years in a manufacturing environment
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls.
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Sage, NetSuite). Working knowledge of Sage 300 will be considered a strong asset.
Advanced Excel skills.

Ability to identify, provide options for solutions and effectively resolve accounting issues. Strong organizational skills are necessary to manage the coordination and successful execution of tasks.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Office-based with regular interaction with manufacturing, warehouse, and logistics teams.
Some exposure to plant/warehouse environments may be required for inventory-related tasks.
Standard business hours, with flexibility during month-end and year-end closing periods. This is not a hybrid role.
