Job Description

The Biosphere Institute of the Bow Valley seeks to contract a part-time Bookkeeper/Financial Administrator to help us deliver on the work described below.We are an incorporated Alberta society with federal charitable status, with the mission of empowering community leadership to address environmental challenges. Our team of six works out of our office in Canmore, Alberta. You can learn more about our organizationThe successful candidate will report to and work with the Executive Director, and deliver on the following on a monthly basis:

• Process accounts payable\xe2\x80\xafand receivable
• Process expense reports by staff
• Support monthly payroll
• Monthly bank reconciliation
• Support grant allocations and budget tracking by staff
• Deliver financial reporting for grant funders

The successful candidate will also support our annual budget and forecast process, and audit; and support some operational level administration of financial systems.Other relevant information:

• Past experience in working with non-profit groups will assist you in obtaining this position.
• We will consider applications from any qualified Canadian candidate; residence in the Bow Valley is not essential for this position, as our staff can readily support in-person banking activities.
• The work schedule will be flexible and we anticipate that this work will occupy between 30-40 hours per month.
• We currently work with a Financial Controller who is moving on; if you have skills that map onto that kind of work as well, please flag those competencies for us.
• Remuneration for this position will be negotiable, and commensurate with experience.
