The Financial Payroll Analyst is responsible for the preparation of financial statements of certain companies in the Britespan group, ensuring sales tax filing compliance in Canada and the U.S. and is involved in financial forecasting, budgeting, cost analyses, and other financial tasks to ensure the organization's financial health and growth.

Position Qualifications:
Education & Knowledge
University degree or College Diploma in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field
Professional Accounting Designation - Preferred
Skills
Proven problem-solving and decision-making skills
Demonstrated proficiency with computer programs such as MS Office
Advanced skills in Excel - Asset
Familiarity with financial software and databases
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Proficiency in financial modelling, forecasting, and budgeting techniques
Experience
Minimum 3 - 5 years' experience with an emphasis on financial statement preparation, budgeting, and forecasting
Communication
Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and time management skills
Proven ability to communicate effectively through various means with internal and external customers
Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting
Prepares month end financial statements for assigned companies including preparation and posting of journal entries, variance analysis, completion of various balance sheet account reconciliations and identification of opportunities for improvement
Fixed Asset Administration for assigned companies
Maintains fixed assets sub ledger ensuring acquisitions, dispositions and transfers are recorded in an accurate and timely manner
Posts information into project cost control sheets and reconciles to the general ledger for each
Establishes and maintains a fixed asset identification system
Analysis of fixed asset gains and losses
Maintains fixed assets continuity schedule
Completes fixed assets audit on a cyclical basis
Reviews capital project records for accuracy and completeness
Conducts post project implementation audits
Supports the development of forecasts and budgets (operations, capital and cashflow)
Supports the external audit process by answering questions and gathering requested information for the auditors
Ensure intercompany accounts are reconciled on an ongoing basis
Prepares regular and ad hoc financial reports/analysis, as requested
Communicate required financial information to operations (QOS, KPI, Inventory Values, etc) and complete the finance scorecard file.
Other Duties
Reviews and releases bi-weekly supplier payment run
Responsible for corporate income tax, property tax and rent payments
Files and pays HST, QST and other provincial and state sales taxes, monthly/quarterly, annually as required
Files annual state information returns as required
Responsible for Export Development Canada insurance monthly submissions and applications
Maintenance of corporate credit cards, including applications, cancelations, printing of statements and maintenance of card limits
Responsible for BBS ON commercial sales commission tracking
Reviews, releases and sets up online payments
Liaise with others in the organization to share information, resolve problems and provide support
Support the Britespan team and participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives.
Comply with company policies and procedures.
