Position Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Financial Analyst to join our finance team. In this role, you will support month-end close processes, financial reporting, analysis, and compliance activities while contributing to process improvements and decision-making across the organization. Roles & Responsibilities:
Month-End Close & Financial Operations
Prepare and post journal entries during the month-end close process.
Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations for accounts such as cash, accounts receivable, accounts payable, accrued liabilities, prepaid expenses, related parties, and deferred revenue.
Maintain supporting documentation for key accounts and ensure all entries are properly substantiated.
Maintain and update schedules for leases and fixed assets (equipment, vehicles, POPs, and NPOPs).
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather financial data for accurate reporting.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
Assist in preparing monthly internal financial reports and management dashboards.
Analyze financial results, investigate variances, and provide insights on trends and performance drivers.
Support forecasting, budgeting, and scenario modelling as needed.
Internal Controls & Process Improvement
Assist in implementing and maintaining internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure regulatory compliance.
Support the design and optimization of financial processes to improve efficiency and reporting quality.
Help implement and optimize ERP systems (SAP) and related modules.
Tax, Audit & Compliance
Prepare working papers and support documentation for external audits.
Assist with compliance filings to Canadian regulatory bodies (e.g., CRTC, CFA, CRA).
Prepare and file sales tax returns (HST, QST, PST).
Support responses to audit or compliance information requests.
Ad Hoc Analysis
Conduct ad hoc financial analysis and reporting to support business objectives.
Assist with cost analysis, operational metrics, and other analytical projects as needed.
Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.
Pursuing CPA, CFA, or other relevant professional certification is a plus.
0-2 years of experience in finance or accounting (co-op, internship, or full-time).
Knowledge of accounting principles (IFRS and/or US GAAP) is an asset.
Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, modeling) and willingness to learn new tools.
Experience with AI or analytical tools is a plus.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to accuracy.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Analytical mindset with problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn.
