Your opportunity:

Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) is a non-profit organization that delivers an objectives-based program for massively scalable, seed-stage, science- and technology-based companies. Its mission is to accelerate the commercialization of science for the betterment of humankind. CDL is a global program with sites at Oxford, Paris, Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Calgary, Halifax, Atlanta, Seattle, Wisconsin, Estonia, and Berlin. The program's objective-setting process enhances the performance of technical founders who learn from the insights of experienced entrepreneurs, increasing their probability of success. Each stream within each CDL site hosts a series of 4 annual objective-setting sessions that are the primary mechanisms by which the program is delivered. CDL sessions are complex, full-day events that may be hosted virtually or in person and that bring together participating start-ups, mentors, partners, and business students. At the end of each annual program cycle, CDL hosts a two-day event called Super Session that brings together graduating start-ups as well as mentors, partners, and students from across the network.

As the Financial Analyst at CDL-Global, you will be responsible for liaising with internal and external contacts to facilitate purchasing and/or procurement processes. Determining the required procurement process based on needs and implementing plans and process improvements for financial administration activities. The Financial Analyst will also review procurement requests to support contract documentation and subsequent invoices to ensure the organization is fiscally responsible and in -line with approved budgets. This role is also responsible for supporting management with documentation on requests for staffing and facilitate a process that is conducive to the processes set out by the university's Human Resource department.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Liaising with internal and external contacts to facilitate purchasing and/or procurement processes
  • Determining the required procurement process based on needs
  • Implementing plans and process improvements for financial administration activities
  • Interpreting and applying policies and procedures when making independent decisions
  • Applying the University Guide to Financial Management and other applicable policies, agency and regulatory requirements
  • Processing and issuing invoices; verifying the accuracy of invoices; reconciling accounts; preparing expense reimbursements
  • Providing detailed information on upcoming funding and report requirements and deadlines
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting; or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience
  • Minimum three (3) years experience in Accounting with demonstrated financial management experience
  • Minimum two (2) years experience in contract preparation and administration
  • Demonstrated experience in reconciling financial information
  • Experience in preparing financial schedules and reports
  • Numerical aptitude; analytical ability
  • Well developed computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to organize and manage a high volume of paperwork
  • Understanding of Salesforce CRM management tools and accounting software (SAP)
  • Possess strong report writing skills

  • Possessing or pursuing a Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) accreditation or a recognized accounting program
