About the role




While we are looking for a

Financial Analyst

to join our Surety team in Vancouver.


As a

Financial Analyst

in the Surety team, you will play an essential role in the team's success by evaluating and analyzing financial and complex credit risk of our portfolio of construction clientele in the province of BC and Western Canada.

What you'll do here:



Perform financial, work-on-hand, credit, and trend analyses of financial statements and supporting documentation to evaluate risks, recommend solutions, and support (or challenge) underwriting decisions Prepare annual file reviews reporting on the capital, capacity, and character of our clients to establish appropriate bonding parameters, mitigate risk, and manage exposure Prioritize workflow to maximize productivity, meet deadlines, and respond within service level expectations Liaise with underwriters and management to discuss complex underwriting issues to develop and execute upon solution-based approaches Review new business submissions and provide preliminary action plan recommendations to underwriters, often maintaining involvement through the submission process Maintain existing files by reviewing and updating client data in our underwriting systems Participate in virtual and in-person meetings, industry associations, forums, and events to develop professional relationships and generate new business opportunities for our team Learn the inner workings of a unique and rewarding industry with ample career opportunity Have an impactful role in supporting the largest surety team in Western Canada

What you bring to the table:



Currently pursuing or completed a post-secondary university degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or Business Administration or relevant experience in the field or a combination of both. Minimum 1 year experience in contract surety, commercial banking, insurance or accounting. Construction surety experience considered an asset. Solid understanding of/ and comfort navigating financial statements. Strong analytical thinking with effective communication and problem-solving skills. Experience dealing with clients/contractors, brokers, company executives, bankers, and attorneys would be an asset. Ability to manage multiple priorities while adapting to new and changing information. Ability to work independently and collaborate with co-workers in a team setting. High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability. Excellent organizational skills and intermediate computer skills: MS Office Suite

This is a 12 month contract opportunity with a potential for extension

Salary of the successful candidate will typically be positioned between the following range, taking into consideration a number of factors including prior experience, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, location and internal equity:


$55,700.00 - $83,500.00
