Position Description:

The Financial Analyst will report into the Manager of Finance, Real Estate Developments. The individual will be responsible for maintaining up to date financial records in job cost Yardi, handling day to day development matters and reporting for Fengate\xe2\x80\x99s Real Estate internal development properties. This role will have the opportunity to interact closely with the Development team, the Finance Funds team and Accounts Payable. The role will be part of a team among 5 other employees.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter and genuinely curious; that enjoys working in a fast-paced environment; has the ability to stay organized and efficiently prioritize and work under timelines. The individual is process oriented with a high sense of ownership in their work; and eager to learn all aspects of a career in accounting and reporting.

Requirements

Key Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly accounting entries and bank reconciliations for development portfolio
  • Reconcile, file and record keeping of HST returns on each project
  • Assist in the preparation, review and approval for development draw requests in a timely manner
  • Create, update, reconcile, and maintain development jobs, budgets, contracts, and actual costs to date in Yardi Job Cost
  • Prepare the quarterly reporting packages for development portfolio which include completeness of trial balance, budget variance analysis and draw packages
  • Assist with the continuous implementation and improvement of processes around Yardi Job cost, and coordination between Finance and Developments.
  • Assist in the documentation of policies and procedures for the tasks on hand \xe2\x80\xa2 Assist in the creation, maintenance, and compliance of master workbooks for bank accounts, business numbers, HST numbers, Property listings, Director and Officers etc.
  • Set up of new bank accounts with banking authorities, CRA registrations and Yardi entities for new development acquisitions
  • Liaison with AP (Accounts Payable) closely to organize, code, and submit vendor invoices for payment in a timely manner
  • Assist with management with updates to standards of workflows, approval, and process documentation
  • Assist with any year end audit requests for all development projects and liaison with third party accounting management teams
  • Ad hoc work as required
Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree completed in accounting or finance is required
  • Further education and/or working towards accreditations, enrollment in CPA program with proven progression through the program
  • Minimum of one to two years with development or corporate or real estate accounting experience required
  • Experience in Yardi is an asset
  • Knowledge of ASPE or other generally accepted accounting principles is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft products, specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication skills, proactive nature, team player, desire to deliver highest and best results

Location & Travel:

The position will be based out of the Oakville office and Fengate offers a Work-Flex policy where employees are

allowed to work remotely up to 3 days per week.
