Financial Analyst
Egg Farmers of Canada (EFC) is seeking a Financial Analyst to join the Finance team in a fast-paced, challenging, and exciting work environment. The ideal candidate for this position will have 3+ years\xe2\x80\x99 of progressive experience in financial analysis and/or accounting. The Financial Analyst is responsible for executing accounting activities and reports to the Controller at EFC. Key responsibilities include: financial analysis, period close, banking activities, accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
Duties:
Reporting and Analysis

  • Producing financial statements for review by the Controller
  • Prepare financial data and summary information for use in management reporting for Board of Directors level presentations
  • Reviews monthly financial operating results, identifying key trends, variances, and areas of improved performance
  • Prepare monthly financial reports and other ad hoc reports for management
  • Prepare and provide information for year-end audit
  • Leading and/or assisting with special ad hoc projects that impact various stakeholders within the organization
  • Provide input on an ongoing basis for improvements/modifications to the cost controls policy & guidelines

Tax Activities
  • Responsible for sales and corporate tax reporting

Banking Activities
  • Reconciling daily corporate bank accounts
  • Monitor and help manage the cash accounts
  • Create weekly transfer sheet and distribute funds accordingly
  • Responsible for report generation from online banking system and Electronic Fund Transfers

Accounts Receivable Activities
  • Perform monthly journal entries and accruals
  • Administer Sundry Invoices
  • Prepare reports and invoices related to finding contribution agreements, as required
  • Apply cash receipts to customer accounts for all receivables and maintain customer files
  • Calculate and invoice for interest owed on overdue invoices
  • Reconcile accounts receivable disputes and complete general filing responsibilities
  • Provide an aging report to the CEO, CFO, Controller, IPP Manager and IPP Coordinator on a regular basis
  • Provide levy revenue and accounts receivable balances for year-end audit confirmations.
  • Print cheques and verify for two signatures once signed. Verify cheque numbers on the cheque register are consistent with numbers on the cheques.

Other Activities
  • Provide back-up support for the Accounts Payable Coordinators as required.
  • Assist with requests for analysis of information, annual audit and other ad-hoc assignments
  • Other duties as needed or required.

  • Proven interpersonal and relationship-building skills to work with cross-functional teams and to work with external vendors and influence stakeholders
  • Advanced Excel skills, ability to work with lookups and pivot tables, including experience developing dynamic Excel-based models
  • Advanced proficiency with the rest of the Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint & Outlook) and ability to adapt to procurement solutions
Abilities
  • Ability to follow standardized work methods and processes related to business operations/accounting.
  • Ability to read, understand and process complex and detailed information (e.g. financial statements, reviewing budget and accounting activities/procedures and invoices).
Good math skills to review invoices, petty cash, bank deposits and financial calculations.
Education and Experience:
  • Post-secondary education in finance and/or accounting
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in financial analysis and/or accounting
  • CPA membership/student membership is considered an asset
  • Experience using MS dynamics Great Plaines is considered an asset
