FINANCIAL ANALYST \xe2\x80\x93 MERCHANDISING / VENDOR INCOME

Overview:

Reporting to the Manager, Merchandising Finance within Shoppers Drug Mart Corporate Finance team, the candidate will be responsible for the completeness and accuracy of vendor income collected from merchandise suppliers.

Key responsibilities:

  • Responsible for journal entry creation and vendor income billing in SAP
  • Liaise with merchants to ensure vendor income billings are complete and accurate
  • Responsible for the creation, development, analysis and communication of periodic financial reports (general ledger, reporting, vendor income, expense information, etc.) to various users within the business
  • Balance sheet reconciliations and analysis related to vendor income accruals
  • Work closely with Vendor Services, Operations, Finance and IT departments to understand and resolve issues in a timely and efficient manner
  • Assist in design, development and implementation of new and ad hoc reports as required by the business
  • Assist in preparation of presentation materials (reports, charts, graphs) for senior management
  • On-going process improvements/enhancements to ensure data integrity and accuracy
  • Assist with special projects as required.
  • Assist in training with internal customers.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3 years related work experience in retail or corporate accounting
  • University degree or post-secondary education \xe2\x80\x93 business, commerce, accounting, or finance related.
  • Professional accounting designation or currently enrolled in advanced stages of a professional designation program (an asset but not required)
  • Working experience in SAP ERP systems
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Excel: pivot tables, look-up formulas, familiarity with macros, graphing and sorting
  • Access: pulling data, joining tables, cross tab tables
  • Experience with the following: SQL, Python, SAS, Teradata and/or MicroStrategy would be an asset
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills \xe2\x80\x93 able to effectively obtain information, communicate issues, actively engage in influencing others and working as a team
  • Must possess strong analytical skills with attention to detail and consistency in report presentation.
  • Results oriented - ability to prioritize and consistently delivers on time with high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to work in a fast pace environment.
