Job Description

Matrix is currently looking to hire a Financial Analyst II for a job in Fort McMurray AB. This is a One (1) year contract role.

Location: Fort McMurray, AB
Start Date: May 29, 2023
Contract Length: One (1) year
Pay Rate: $34 - $36/hr (depending on experience)
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8am to 430pm

• This position is typically based in a Field Office (80%)

• Travel required to remote field locations to (20%)

• Provide financial analysis and support related to Operations.
• Work closely with the Area Leadership Teams to complete budgets, forecasts, cost control, project system administration, invoicing support and ad hoc analysis
• Provide guidance and support with monthly and yearly financial deliverables
• Prepare the monthly operating and project budget variances for approval and submission
• Prepare the monthly/quarterly forecasts for operating budgets for approval and submission
• Compile and analyze the monthly operating cost accruals
• Complete the system set up of operating projects, budgeted and unbudgeted, and liaises with the operational project managers regarding cost control, accruals and forecasts
• Comfortable with driving up to 400KM to remote facilities providing face to face support to operational staff
• Provide training to staff on financial procedures and systems
• Assist with internal and external audit requests
• Complete ad hoc reporting and analysis on cost centers, general ledger accounts and projects including trend analysis

Qualifications:

• Related degree in finance, accounting, or business management with 4 or more years of related experience or a related diploma with 6 or more years of related experience.
• Working towards a professional accounting designation would be an asset
• Solid understanding of the budgeting cycle; long-term financial planning and multi-year budgeting would be an asset
• Proficiency with financial management systems and applications including Advanced Excel (formulas and Pivot tables) PowerBI and SharePoint; Oracle Financials/Project Management would be an asset
• Excellent analysis and problem-solving skills
• Strong orientation towards customer service including tact, patience and diplomacy when dealing with internal and external customers
• Outstanding communication, interpersonal, organizational and team skills
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP would be an asset
