The opportunity
TC Energy's Legal Operations team is seeking a detail-oriented Financial Analyst with strong analytical and communication skills to provide critical financial analysis and insights that support legal decision-making across the organization.
What you'll do

  • Lead (or assist in leading) the legal department budget and planning process, including communication with vendors and stakeholders
  • Identify spending trends, variances, cost-saving opportunities and process efficiencies
  • Act as primary liaison to the CFO area, when required, ensuring alignment with enterprise-wide financial processes
  • Coordinate financial reporting for the legal department
  • Develop and maintain financial forecasting models for Legal Operations
  • Create financial dashboards for leadership
  • Maintain financial resource hub for the legal department
  • Develop and deliver financial training for team members under the General Counsel, as required
Minimum Qualifications
  • University Degree in Finance, Commerce, or Economics
  • 6+ years relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience with financial and business analysis specific to capital & operating budgets, including cash flow, allocations, forecasting practices, and related cost management processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to consolidate, report and analyze information accurately.
  • Functional expertise using data, analytics and insights that provide business cost management and decision support, including in-depth data/quantitative analysis and experience with large data sets and reporting tools.
  • Relevant experience driving process improvements, governance and business results.
  • Strong organization skills, ability to work flexibly (in groups or independently) and to deadlines; self-motivated and proactive.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite is a critical requirement, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with accounting systems and processes, and financial planning cycles.
  • Experience working with SAP, BW, BPC.
  • Direct experience with scorecard and KPI development, reporting and monitoring.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Strong personal initiative, ability to deliver high quality results, and desire for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to foster creativity and innovation, challenging the status quo especially as it pertains to shifting behaviors and perceptions in large scale change.
Previous experience using AI to automate KPI reporting
