Under the direction of the Finance Manager, the Financial Analyst assists in the preparation of monthly financial reports, audit preparation, A/R and A/P.Duties and Responsibilities:
Financial Processes

  • Administer budgets based on multi-funding sources and contract outlines
  • Match revenues with expenses, including both revenue received in advance of expenses and revenue received as recovery of expenses
  • Ensure cost recovery is effectively administered where required
  • Record and track donations, including fee for service charges
Reporting
  • Prepare financial statements for Programs and provide requested analysis and recommendations as appropriate
  • Assist in preparation of budget components of funding proposals and special project submissions
  • Assist in the preparation of major financial reports
  • Assist in the preparation and presentation of regular financial reports required by funders
  • Prepare cash flow projections for funders
Additional activities
  • Prepare all financial records pre-audit and participate in audit to secure satisfactory audit review
  • Manage accounts receivable with the assistance of other Accountants
  • Perform monthly GL reconciliation and post Journal entries
  • Perform periodic Financial Analysis for programs
  • Support program managers in financial administration of contract obligations
  • Review and post vendor invoices for both AP and AR
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Post-secondary education (preferably working towards a recognized accounting designation)
  • Demonstrated experience in bookkeeping and contract management
  • Preference given to applicants familiar with the functioning of not-for-profit organizations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Business Central, Excel, Microsoft Word and any leading database program
  • Ability to meet deadlines under cyclical pressures associated with reporting and accounting timelines critical to the effective functioning of the organization.
  • Working knowledge of fiscal cycles and the ability to blend reporting in the organization's fiscal year.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Experience in month-end and year-end closing processes is required
  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19
