Financial Analyst

THE COMPANY

Modern Elevator Innovations ("MEII") designs and manufactures custom elevator systems. They handle the full process--from engineering and fabricating components like cabs and entrances, to coordinating with architects and contractors. Their parent company, ATTA Elevators, operate their installation branches to manage seamless installations of the manufactured units.

This vertically integrated tandem of MEII/ATTA strives to deliver high-quality, efficient, and tailored elevator solutions across North America.

THE POSITION

MEII/ATTA Elevators is seeking a qualified individual to join our team located at the Burlington production facility. This position will report directly to the Controller - Finance & Production and will have the following responsibilities:

Partner with operations, engineering, and production teams to drive performance through analysis of cost, labour, and margin trends.

Develop and maintain job cost models and standard costing where appropriate, for Engineered-to-order ("ETO") projects, ensuring visibility into true profitability by product line, customer, and work order.

Conduct variance analysis (materials, labour efficiency, absorption, scrap, overhead) and translate findings into actionable recommendations.

Provide support to other Finance department functions to support day to day management of working capital, AP entry, bank reconciliations, month end close activities as well as internal and external audit requests.

Build and monitor KPI dashboards tracking throughput, utilization, productivity, and financial performance.

Support capacity planning and forecast models, aligning production data with financial targets.

Contribute financial insight to lean and continuous improvement projects, quantifying the impact of process changes and waste reduction initiatives.

Participate in preparation for budgeting, forecasting, and capital project evaluations, including ROI and payback analyses.

Provide analytical support for quoting, pricing strategy, and contract reviews, ensuring alignment with cost structures and margin goals.

Monitor that the business processes that they input or utilize in their work is being done so in a way consistent with our company's policies and procedures.

Partner with management to enhance data visibility and decision support tools across the organization.

THE QUALIFICATIONS

MEII is looking for a candidate with the following skills and training:

CPA designation (or in progress) preferred.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.

3+ years of progressive financial experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally within an ETO or job-shop setting.

Experience in any of the following industries would be considered an asset: Industrial Machinery and Equipment, Automotive, Aerospace, Defence, Medical Devices, or similar.

Experience carrying out weekly and monthly journal entries as well as backing up AP functions.

Deep understanding of cost accounting principles, manufacturing KPIs, and operational performance metrics.

Proven ability to work cross-functionally and communicate effectively with non-financial stakeholders.

Advanced Excel and ERP skills (experience with Dynamics 365 Business Central would be seen as an asset)

Strong analytical mindset and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for improvement and asking "why".

Experience supporting lean manufacturing, Kaizen, or CI initiatives.

Has a strong moral compass and is not afraid to question the status quo.
