Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Financial Aid Officer to join our team at a private career college in the province of Ontario. The successful candidate will be responsible for administering and managing financial aid programs, scholarships, and grants for our students. The role requires a thorough understanding of federal and provincial financial aid regulations and policies, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Job Duties
Responsibilities:
Inform and advise both prospective and current students regarding the school's terms of payment and various available financial aid programs; explain application procedures, administrative policies and student responsibilities.
Provide sound advice to students regarding financial aid options, including but not limited to OSAP, Better Jobs Ontario, Canada-Ontario Job Grant, Windmill Microlending, RRSP, Lifelong Learning Plan, and payment plans.
Create and maintain individual student files in a manner consistent with government record keeping requirements and internal school policies; track all financial aid documents activities; follow up with students regarding incomplete files or missing information; authorize release of financial aid funds by verifying compliance with program requirements, sign certificates, schedules and confirmations of enrolments
Ensure compliance with federal and provincial regulations related to student financial aid programs, including maintaining accurate records and preparing required reports.
Efficiently organize and manage office records and files about student account receivables, timely invoiced students for tuition and related fees; received and processed payments from students, followed up with students regarding outstanding payments.
Maintain regular and effective communication with the recruiting team for student financial status.
Provide regular, timely activity reports; keep the Campus Manager informed of any issues, concerns or additional requirements of student's financial aid.
Other related duties and tasks as required.
Requirements and Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of experience in financial aid administration, preferably in a post-secondary education setting.
Experience with financial aid software and systems
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Attention to detail and accuracy
Commitment to student success and access to higher education
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) and other provincial financial aid programs
Familiarity with private career college regulations and policies in Ontario
