We provide students and the campus community with support through the distribution of key information, high-quality service delivery and the maintenance of essential systems and processes. Our dedicated staff work in a myriad of areas including Admissions, Academic Records, Convocation, Customer Service, Fees, Financial Aid, Registration & Course Scheduling, Reporting, and Student Systems at both our North and Lakeshore campuses. We are a collaborative team that welcomes innovation, upholds a culture of inclusiveness and respect, and supports wellness.About the Financial Aid Advisor Role:Reporting to the Manager, Financial Aid, the Financial Aid Advisor supports the administration of the Canada-Ontario Student Loan Program (OSAP) through the consistent and effective application of MCU policies and guidelines. As a first point of contact for financial aid issues and questions, the incumbent will provide guidance and advice to students on funding programs, eligibility requirements as well as identifying opportunities for intervention in the MCU financial aid approval process. In addition, the incumbent fields general inquiries from parents, partners and other third parties, while maintaining required confidentiality of individual student records; provides advice to students and makes recommendations on how to use the budget calculator; processes OSAP applications and supporting documentation, monitors the OSAP portal to support the timely release of funds; and identifies funding applications for possible review/reassessment. The incumbent works closely with the Financial Aid Officers and the Manager to contribute to the successful operations of the financial aid office.About you:You are passionate about working at Ontario\xe2\x80\x99s largest polytechnic college; you thrive on improving productivity and quality that contribute to team success!   • 2 year diploma in Public Relations, Accounting or Business or equivalent.
Experience/Skills:
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in a customer service environment that includes working with customers in difficult situations is also a requirement
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform financial transactions and basic arithmetic
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain policies and procedures
  • Consistent attention to detail
  • Time management skills and the ability to work effectively with the Microsoft Office Suite, email, and telephone are required
  • The successful candidate will also maintain strict confidentiality regarding student records and financial information.
