The Opportunity





As the Financial Account, you will report directly to the Senior Accountant. This position will play a key role in ensuring all day to day accounting functions within the YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick are completed. In this role, the Financial Accountant will be assisting with month-end closing process, account reconciliation, journal entries, accounts receivable, and other tasks assigned by the supervisor. This position requires a high degree of interaction with both staff and others in management as well as versatility and the ability to help other staff members when needed.

Responsibilities




Assisting the Senior Accountant with the month-end closing process, which includes account reconciliations, journal entries recording, financial and management statement preparation. Bank account reconciliation and posting of daily cash receipts. Responsible for analysis and reconciliations for our various departments. Analyze financial data to identify trends, patterns and areas of improvement. Filing of monthly HST. Assisting with audit process. Support the AP process during peak times. Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support decision making. Completion any other work-related tasks as required by your supervisor. Model appropriate behaviours in line with the YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick's mission, vision and values; establishes rapport and maintains effective relationship building behaviour with staff, volunteers and members. Represent the YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick in a professional manner both in terms of relationships and documents circulated. Understand and integrate the value of philanthropy and volunteerism. Self manage personal professional development and work that needs to be completed.



Skills and Qualifications




Post-secondary education with 1-3 years of accounting experience. Perusing a CPA or designation considered an asset. Strong working knowledge of MS Office 365. Knowledge of Xero or other accounting software is considered an asset. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Collaborative approach. Demonstrated commitment to your ongoing professional development. Ability to multi-task and prioritize work items with minimum direction. Strong time management, organizational and interpersonal skills.
