Your New Role

Intern Finance role will assist the Finance team in a number of areas that will provide the candidate with exposure to the Finance roles & tasks at Deco. Exposure to day-to-day processing in AP, month-end closing and assistance with annual budget preparation will be the focus.

As a Finance Student, You Will
  • Assist Accounts Payable in yearly archive and filing of records
  • Assist in account reconciliations as assigned
  • Perform physical audit of fixed assets subledger
  • Develop excel templates to be used in annual budget preparation
  • Assist department Managers in completion of annual budgets
  • Perform month-end closing duties as assigned
  • Work with minimal supervision
  • Work within the guidelines of the Deco Associate Handbook
  • Ability to work, on occasion, outside standard working hours (weekends, off-shifts)
  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively within a Team Environment and be a positive contributing member of that team in solution development and implementation
  • Other duties as may be required
SAFETY PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Accepts personal responsibility to plan and conduct their work safely in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act as well as company policies and guidelines
  • Responsible for good housekeeping in your area
What You Will Need to Succeed
  • Currently enrolled as a 2nd or 3rd year undergraduate student in a university Business, Commerce or Accounting Program
  • Theoretical knowledge of financial, cost accounting & financial planning
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Strong technical and computer skills, specifically in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to multitask effectively and have good time management skills
