Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant will play a key role in managing full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, and technical accounting activities in a fast-paced, publicly listed environment. This role includes full cycle accounting and month-end close activities, ensuring compliance with IFRS, and supporting internal controls and audit processes. The Senior Accountant will also contribute to strategic initiatives such as M&A, FP&A, SOX compliance, and ERP system enhancements. This is a hands-on position with strong cross-functional exposure and opportunities to collaborate with senior leadership and drive continuous improvement across the Finance function.



Key Responsibilities:



Core Accounting & Month-End Close:



Prepare and post complex journal entries including reclassifications, amortizations, and adjusting entries. Perform period end close activities including: Bank reconciliations Revenue and balance sheet reconciliations Accruals and variance analysis Amortization of prepaid expenses and debt Revaluation of foreign currency accounts Interest income recognition on GICs Reconcile accounts receivable and credit card clearing accounts. Post entries related to payroll, intercompany transactions, and bank transfers. Preparation of Sales Tax workbooks Preparation of quarterly excise tax returns.

Financial Reporting & Compliance:



Assist in the preparation of supporting documentation for complex accounting transactions. Ensure compliance with IFRS, SOX, and NI 52-109 requirements. Prepare audit summaries and coordinate with internal and external auditors. Support Health Canada reporting and other regulatory filings.

Systems & Process Improvement:



Support ERP system enhancements and implementations (Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred). Identify and implement process improvements to streamline the monthly close cycle. Contribute to financial reporting automation and system optimization.

Strategic & Cross-Functional Support:



Collaborate with FP&A on budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling. Participate in M&A activities including due diligence, integration, and valuation. Process overhead allocations and AP prepayment reclassifications. Review payment vouchers for compliance with approval thresholds.

Leadership & Development:



Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff. Provide training and support to ensure team development and knowledge sharing. Respond to ad hoc financial reporting requests and support special projects.

Qualifications:



CPA, CA, or equivalent accounting designation (required). Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience in a public company or public accounting firm. Strong technical accounting knowledge with a solid understanding of IFRS. High proficiency in Microsoft Excel Experience with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 preferred). Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work independently, meet tight deadlines, and manage multiple priorities. A continuous improvement mindset and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
