Role Overview



EnviCore is seeking aFinance Operations Specialist to support financial operations, enforce approval controls, and provide hands-on financial modeling and analytical support to the CEO. This role is responsible for maintaining clean, audit-ready financial records and preparing decision-grade financial analysis for management, board, and investor discussions.

Key Objectives of the Role



Maintain strong financial hygiene and documentation Enforce approval, spending, and expense policies Provide accurate, timely financial analysis to support strategic decisions Improve board, investor, and grant-reporting readiness Reduce execution burden on the CEO without diluting financial control

Core Responsibilities



1. Financial Operations & Accounting Support



Review, validate, and process vendor invoices Ensure all invoices and expenses are supported by complete and compliant documentation Code and record transactions accurately in QuickBooks Online Perform monthly credit card and bank reconciliations Maintain organized, audit-ready financial records and supporting files Coordinate with external accountants, bookkeepers, or auditors as required

2. Approval & Governance Enforcement



Enforce EnviCore's expense, travel, procurement, and approval policies Act as first-line review for all invoices and expense submissions Reject or return incomplete, non-compliant, or improperly documented items Prepare structured approval packages for CEO review and sign-off Maintain approval logs, exception logs, and spending trackers Flag policy deviations and financial risks proactively

3. Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)



Build and maintain: Cash runway and burn-rate models Rolling 6-, 12-, and 18-month cash forecasts Scenario and sensitivity analyses Support financial modeling for: Pilot and demonstration projects FOAK and commercial plant economics Grant budgets and cost tracking Assist with pricing, cost, and margin analyses as required Prepare financial matrices and summaries for board and management discussions

4. Board, Investor & Grant Support



Prepare monthly and quarterly financial snapshots Draft financial slides and tables for board presentations (CEO finalizes) Support investor diligence by providing accurate financial data and analysis Track grant budgets, expenditures, and reporting requirements Assist with grant claims, audits, and compliance documentation Maintain calendars and trackers for financial reporting obligations

5. Systems, Process & Continuous Improvement



Improve financial workflows, templates, and documentation standards Help implement and maintain approval and tracking systems Ensure financial data integrity across tools and reports Recommend improvements to internal controls as the company scales

Authority & Governance



This role operates within a clearly defined governance framework:

No payment authority No contract signing authority No expense approval authority No independent budget authority
All financial approvals, payments, and commitments require explicit CEO sign-off.

Required Qualifications



CPA (Canada) 4-6 years of relevant experience in: Startups, cleantech, engineering, or project-based environments Strong proficiency in Excel and financial modeling Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online or similar systems Experience preparing financial materials for senior management or boards Strong attention to detail and documentation discipline

Preferred Qualifications



Experience with government grants Exposure to venture-backed companies or fundraising environments Multi-entity or project-based financial tracking experience Familiarity with audit and diligence processes

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $53,623.88-$80,000.00 per year
