As the Finance Officer, you will support the day-to-day financial administration of the MD Program. You will be hands on in monitoring budgets, processing accounts payable and receivable, and processing payroll. Your extensive financial background combined with your solid organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills will be key to your success in this role.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Applying the generally accepted accounting principles to financial tasks, such as processing accounts payable and receivable, journal entries, expense reimbursements, and invoices.
  • Monitoring department budget to ensure expenditures remain within budgeted allocations.
  • Generating financial and budget variance reports, including identifying and analyzing data discrepancies and taking necessary actions to correct errors.
  • Processing payroll, stipends and honoraria, and attendance.
  • Providing advice and data to support the development of business cases and analytics for departmental initiatives
  • Writing routine documents and correspondence
  • Handlingsensitive and/or confidential information
Essential Qualifications:
  • Advanced College Diploma (3 Years) or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum (3) years related and progressive experience preferably in a University or hospital setting.
  • Demonstrated experience processing and reconciling financial, accounts payable and receivable, including processing payroll.
  • Strong aptitude in monitoring budgets and proactively following up on variances/errors.
  • Proficiency managing databases and generating standard financial reports.
  • High level of proficiency with MS Office Suite, particularly MS Excel, and proficiency with SAP systems, including FIS and HRIS, orsimilar systems.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Strong numerical, accounting, financial and analytical skills
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to multi-task on varied duties
  • Accuracy and attention to detail are crucial
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and tact in dealing with faculty members, students, and staff.
