Harvest Manitoba ("Harvest") is a charitable organization dedicated to nourishing our communities and our sense of community so that no Manitoban goes hungry. We collect and share 13 million pounds of food every year, which is sorted and packed and distributed to Manitobans through our Community Food Network of more than 380 food banks and agencies in Winnipeg, rural, northern and First Nations communities. Right now, we feed 110,000 Manitobans every month; 49% are children. Our Food Distribution Centre, which includes our Community Support Centre and Warehouse, is in our Winnipeg headquarters.

Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Finance Manager to join Harvest Manitoba's Finance Department. This role is essential in supporting Harvest Manitoba's mission by ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial operations. Reporting to the Vice President of Finance and Administration, the Finance Manager oversees day-to-day accounting activities, including invoice processing, banking transactions, journal entries, and payroll coordination.
In addition, this position provides financial oversight, prepares reports, and collaborates with the Leadership team to maintain compliance and streamline processes. Through effective financial management, this role helps enable Harvest Manitoba to feed hungry Manitobans, sustain community well-being, and work toward a healthier future for all where no Manitoban goes hungry.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Operations & Administration
Oversee and execute administrative financial activities to ensure smooth operations and compliance with organizational policies.
Oversee accurate entry of invoices into QuickBooks and payment preparation.
Review and monitor expense reporting to maintain accuracy and adherence to expense policies.
Prepare journal entries, including month-end adjustments for prepaid expenses, ensuring accurate financial records.
Maintain accurate payables records, ensuring both paper and electronic documentation comply with privacy legislation and CRA guidelines.
Perform financial tasks such as preparing bank deposits and entering donations into QuickBooks.
2. Accounts Management
Track and coordinate all gift cards, ensuring compliance with established procedures.
Generate invoices as required and maintain proper accounts receivable processes as directed by the Vice President of Finance and Administration.
On a monthly basis, reconcile Harvest's bank accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Coordinate with the payroll team to ensure payroll processing runs smoothly and support timely preparation of monthly financial statements.
3. Financial Reporting & Analysis
Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements.
Research, track, and resolve financial discrepancies, escalating issues to the Vice President of Finance and Administration as needed.
Support year-end accounting functions, including assisting auditors during the audit process.
Assist with budget preparation activities and data entry for the CEO, Vice President of Finance and Administration, and Leadership team.
4. Leadership & Team Support
Manage and provide guidance to the Finance Coordinator, fostering a collaborative and efficient team environment.
Provide backup support to other CREW members as required to ensure operational continuity.
Contribute to the development and streamlining of financial processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Actively support Harvest Manitoba's CREW values by assisting team members and ensuring operational needs are met.
5. Compliance & Governance
Ensure compliance with all applicable non-profit financial regulations, CRA charitable requirements, and internal policies to maintain transparency and accountability in financial reporting.
Monitor adherence to organizational financial controls and audit standards, implementing corrective actions where necessary.
6. Other Duties as Assigned
Education and Experience
Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in accounting or financial management, including preparation of reports and reconciliations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and strong competency in QuickBooks.
Experience with donor management systems such as Donor Perfect (an asset).
Knowledge of non-profit financial management principles and governmental regulations for accounting.
Demonstrated ability to streamline processes and improve operational efficiency (an asset).
