About Vantage
Vantage Commodities is a trader-led lumber firm based in Vancouver. We're a small, focused team that values sharp execution and clear thinking. No corporate bloat--just people who know the business and move quickly.
The Role
We need someone who can own our entire finance function--today that means invoices, month-end close, and cash management. Tomorrow it means scaling that function through technology and automation, not headcount.
You'll start hands-on: processing AP/AR, closing the books each month, running payroll, and projecting costs. But we're not hiring someone to stay in that seat forever. We want a finance leader who keeps operations lean and efficient--someone who reaches for better systems and smarter tools before asking for more people.
You'll work directly alongside our traders. That means understanding the rhythm of a trading floor, supporting deal flow in real time, and building the financial infrastructure that lets the desk move fast.
If you've done month-end close at a real company, managed balance sheet reconciliations, handled forecasting, and want to eventually run the financial side of a growing trading firm, this is the role.
What You'll Do
Own full-cycle AP/AR--inbound invoices from mills, outbound invoices to customers
Run month-end and quarterly close, including journal entries and reconciliations
Manage cash flow, daily banking (CAD/USD), and liquidity planning
Handle payroll administration
Build and maintain financial forecasts and cost projections
Support external audits and maintain internal controls
Use QuickBooks, Excel, and whatever tools make your job easier--we're big on AI and automation
Grow into the CFO seat as Vantage expands into additional commodities
What We're Looking For
2-5 years in accounting, corporate finance, or a controller-track role
Experience with month-end/quarter-end close processes
Balance sheet reconciliation experience (inventory, cost accounts, etc.)
Forecasting and cost projection experience
Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance (CPA or working toward it is a plus)
Strong Excel skills--pivot tables, modeling, the works
QuickBooks experience preferred
Based in Vancouver and able to be in-office daily
What You Get
Competitive salary based on experience
Health and dental benefits
Paid vacation and sick time
A schedule that gives you your afternoons back
Direct access to senior leadership--no layers between you and the people making decisions
A real path to CFO as the company scales
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $105,000.00-$125,000.00 per year
Benefits:
