The Finance Manager works as support to the functions within the finance department. This role also manages finance-related projects -- such as system implementations, funding initiatives, and process improvements -- ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with organizational goals.
The Finance Officer directly contributes to the long-term strength and stability of Legal Services Board (LSB) by adopting, integrating and developing best practices. The Finance Manager helps position LSB as a leader in creating opportunities for the advancement of Inuit and as a desirable workplace for current and prospective employees.
Key Accountabilities and Key Results Areas
The Finance Officer demonstrates competence in executing their role and supports the Comptroller and Chief Financial Officer in achieving several key results areas, including organizational efficiency and the certainty, reliability, and predictability of LSB finances.
Financial Management
Assist in the preparation and management of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
Assist in the general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and financial reporting functions.
Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, funding agreements, and internal policies.
Project Management
Plan, lead, and execute finance-related projects, including funding model reviews, efficiency initiatives, and honorarium reviews.
Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets, and ensure deliverables are met.
Identify risks and mitigation strategies for financial and project initiatives.
Report regularly on project status, resource allocation, and financial outcomes.
Leadership and Collaboration
Supervise and mentor finance staff, foster professional development and continuous improvement.
Collaborate with senior leadership to develop financial strategies supporting organizational growth.
Scope, Authority and Impact
This position will report to the CFO and will act in a trusted support and advisory role to the CFO, Comptroller, and employees. Under the guidance and approval of the Comptroller, the Finance Officer has delegated authority to assist in the development, implementation, and review of information tracking systems and reporting protocols on behalf of the department, and to respond to inquiries regarding their delegated tasks.

Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field (CPA, CMA, or equivalent designation preferred) or acceptable financial experience.
5+ years of progressive financial management experience, including budgeting and reporting.
Proven experience managing finance or system-related projects from inception to completion.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial modelling, and reporting tools.
Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
Proficiency with financial software and advanced Excel skills.
PMP or equivalent project management certification is an asset.
Preference will be given to Nunavut Inuit.
