Position Overview
The Finance Manager oversees and maintains the financial health of both Cedar Strong Prevention and Intervention Society and Fraser East Society. This role combines strategic financial planning and analysis with hands-on bookkeeping responsibilities to ensure accurate reporting, compliance, and strong financial governance across both organizations.
Key Responsibilities
Finance Management (Cedar Strong):
Plan, organize, and manage financial operations and accounting functions.
Develop and implement financial policies, systems, and procedures.
Prepare financial statements, forecasts, budgets, and variance analyses.
Analyze financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
Lead financial planning and decision-support processes.
Supervise and mentor finance staff.
Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal controls.
Liaise with senior management, auditors, and external stakeholders.
Track restricted and unrestricted funds, grants, and program budgets.
Coordinate annual audits and collaborate with external accountants.
Maintain complete sets of books using manual and computerized systems.
Record financial transactions, post journal entries, and reconcile accounts.
Prepare trial balances, general ledgers, and financial statements.
Process accounts payable and receivable.
Perform bank reconciliations and assist with year-end reporting.
Maintain financial records, rent rolls, deposits, and related documentation.
Qualifications & Skills
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline; CPA or equivalent designation preferred.
Minimum 5 years of bookkeeping experience and 5 years in finance management ideally in a non-profit setting
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, Microsoft Suite, etc.).
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
High attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities.
Compensation & Work Conditions
Wage: $46-$52 per hour (commensurate with experience and qualifications)
Hours: 35 hours per week
