The Finance Manager is based out of our Halifax office and will report to fractional CFO and business owners. This role partners closely with leadership and department leads -- including production, sales, and operations -- to drive informed financial decisions that support profitable growth while sustaining brand integrity, while remaining hands-on with core accounting processes.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Business Partnering
Lead annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and cash flow planning
Analyze sales performance, gross margins, labour costs, and operating expenses
Provide insights on pricing, product profitability, production capacity, and cost drivers
Support strategic initiatives including growth planning, capital investments, and new product launches
Financial Reporting & Oversight
Oversee month-end close and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting
Prepare management reports, dashboards, and KPI analysis for leadership
Prepare consolidated financial statements in USD and CAD
Review financial statements, journal entries, and account reconciliations
Coordinate year-end activities with external accountants and advisors
Compliance & Controls
Ensure compliance with Canadian accounting standards and statutory requirements
Oversee HST filings, payroll remittances, and other regulatory reporting
Maintain and enhance financial controls, policies, and procedures
Team & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Support or manage finance staff as applicable
Collaborate closely with production and sales teams
Contribute to continuous improvement of financial processes and systems
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business
CPA designation is preferred
5-7+ years of progressive experience in finance or accounting
Strong skills in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and financial reporting
Advanced Excel skills
Experience in QBO and Monday.com are considered assets
