POSITION SUMMARY/MISSION IMPACT STATEMENT:
The Finance Manager oversees all activities related to cost and general accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, account payable and receivable, risk management and MCCSS reporting. This role will report directly to the Executive Director. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES: Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or Business-related program.
CA, CGA, CMA OR CPA designation is required.
Minimum of 5 years of progressive work experience including; accounting, auditing, budgeting, financial planning and analysis, and other financial activities. budget reporting e.g., Ministry of Children, Community & Social Services (MCCSS).
General understanding of Not for Profit and MCCSS directives.
Experience working with a not-for-profit Board of Directors.
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret financial statements. Revise and/or develop, and support budgets related to service delivery/agency operations.
Proficiency in the use of computer programs for accounting, spreadsheet, database management and reporting.
Demonstrated ability to teach and coach others in basic accounting principles and work.
Working knowledge of New Views Software.
Experience conducting or participating in audit.
Evidence of ongoing education and professional development. NOTE: Bilingualism in both official languages would be an asset JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for creating and overseeing the organization\'s financial plans and budgets. This involves analyzing financial data, identifying trends, forecasting future performance, and making strategic recommendations to ensure the company\'s financial objectives are met. Lead the budgeting process, working closely with department heads and executives to set financial targets and allocate resources appropriately. Regularly monitor and report on budget performance, identifying any deviations and proposing corrective actions. Assists the Executive Director to comply with the board governance policies and procedures related to all financial matters. Conducts random and scheduled financial audits of programs (including individual client accounts), submits findings, and makes recommendations to the Executive Director. MCCSS.
In consultation with the Executive Director be responsible for the development, monitoring and submission of the annual budget and supporting documentation as required by MCCSS and legislation. Assess financial risks and implement strategies to mitigate them. This includes evaluating potential investments, analyzing credit risk, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and reporting standards. Monitor and manage the organization\'s cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for day-to- day operations and strategic initiatives. Develop cash flow forecasts to predict cash needs and optimize cash utilization. Other duties as required.
