Our client, a Canadian private equity investment firm located in downtown Toronto, is looking for a Finance Manager for an 18 month term.
Reporting into the Chief Financial Officer, the Manager, Finance oversees the financial reporting and compliance obligations of seven (7) funds, as well as the outsourced activities of an outsourced fund administrator. Working with an associate, the Manager, Finance ensures the timely closing of books each month, quarter, including the review of investor statements.
This role is the key point of contact for all fund performances. Working with internal and external teams, stakeholders, accounting firms, valuation firms, and other partners to ensure accurate reports that reflect the performance of CCGI funds. The Manager, Finance will also coordinate with external tax advisors to ensure accurate and timely completion of the funds\' tax filing requirements.
Responsibilities
Financial Management and Reporting:
- Manage financial reporting and compliance for 7 funds.
- Ensure accuracy in financial accounting and investor communications through outsourced Fund administrator.
- Oversee monthly/quarterly book closings, including review of investment and accounting schedules and investor statements.
- Prepare and oversee calculation of quarterly management fees and quarterly and annual returns on Fund and individual investment levels.
Operational Coordination:
- Coordinate Fund transactions: investment funding, capital calls, and distributions.
- Manage trade settlements, including equity and debt trades and portfolio company financing.
- Collaborate with lawyers, bankers, custodians, auditors, and investors to support Fund operations.
Audit and Tax Management:
- Lead annual financial statement audit by coordinating with auditors, fund administrators, external valuation team, and internal investment team.
- Work with external tax advisors to ensure accurate and timely completion of tax filings (T5013, K-1s, NR4, Form 8865s, Form 1065s, GST/HST
Cash Management and Treasury:
- Manage cash functions, including cash forecasts and foreign exchange transactions.
- Ensure compliance with credit facilities and oversee treasury operations.
Analysis and Communication:
- Evaluate financial information and perform ad-hoc analysis.
- Respond to investor inquiries.
Accreditations
- University degree, preferably in commerce
- CPA, CA required
Systems and Subject Matter Knowledge
- Industry knowledge and experience within Financial Services
- Knowledge of tax filing requirements related to investment funds
Experience
- Ability to identify ways to maximize efficiency within financial operations
