This new position is responsible for the creation of process improvement and automation solutions across the finance functions as well as the management and documentation of a strong internal control framework. As the Finance Director and reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will be a collaborator, project manager, subject matter expert, and driver behind finance optimization projects that will make lasting impact at Metro.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a problem solver working proactively to develop and implement a detailed plan aiming at scalable end-to-end solutions with cross functional finance teams that ensure long-term and sustainable efficiency.
  • Collaborate with process owners to identify problems and define requirements that support process strategy and deployment.
  • Be the driving force behind process definition and re-engineering to create lasting improvements of manual processes.
  • Understand current financial analyses/processes and develop more insightful and more efficient approaches.
  • Perform root cause analysis/identify process gaps and apply the appropriate methodologies to deliver redesigns and meet business needs.
  • Oversee implementation process improvements for the organization\xe2\x80\x99s reconciliation, close, and journal entry tools.
  • Drive process definition, improvement, and gap analysis of current/future-state processes.
  • Design processes and assist in identifying controls needed to ensure sufficient accuracy and completion. The roles focus is on informing, planning and process improvement.
  • Prepare process diagrams and documentation for various levels of process mapping.
  • When implementing new solutions, assist in identifying gaps in people, sub-processes, or skills needed to fully implement.
  • Consistently communicate goals and project status from conception to post implementation to partners, ensuring all initiatives are strategically aligned.
  • Lead user acceptance testing including identification of test cases and resources.
  • Develop a quality control and monitoring program to ensure consistent and appropriate usage of new tools and compliance with internal control requirements and company policy
  • Assist with the coordination of IT resources for finance-driven projects and improvements
  • Develop training materials, procedural documentation, and host training sessions to ensure successful adoption and consistent application of new processes and effective usage of new tools across the Company.
  • Support management on key strategic change initiatives within Finance, including all aspects of content delivery and project execution.
  • Develop project plans to drive change management from initiation to the delivery of corresponding work product(s)
  • Enforce appropriate controls throughout the change management lifecycle, including tracking issues from identification through resolution.
Qualifications:
  • Enthusiastic learner with passion and innate curiosity
  • Comfort dealing with ambiguity; able to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Proactive problem solver able to think critically and communicate effectively
  • Comfortable talking to a variety of people and reaching out to internal/external experts (accounting firms, lawyers, etc.) to seek information on topics with which Metro has little experience
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or other business-related discipline required
  • Experience with / knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 is nice to have
  • Experience with automation and Robotic Process Automation tools
  • Experience with internal controls and risk mitigation
  • Six Sigma, BPM, ITIL or equivalent certifications are nice to have
  • Demonstrates proven impact and influence skills to engage both business partners and cross-functional team members
  • 5+ years\' experience in process optimization and/or transformation required
