Transdev Canada is actively seeking a Finance Director for our Light Rail Systems to oversee all finance, accounting, forecasting, budgeting, expense management and other basic financial elements for a Light Rail System we are operating and maintaining in the Greater Toronto Area.

The Finance Director will be supported by the Transdev Canada Rail team. This team will be led by \xc3\x89ric Labartette who prepared the launch of a light rail in France and launched a Metro operation in India.

Roles and Responsibilities

Reporting to the CEO Hurontario LRT, you will be Mobilinx\xe2\x80\x99s Finance Director. Your responsibilities will include:

1. Financial Reporting and Management

  • Conduct, participate in, and oversee daily/weekly/monthly financial reconciliation and reporting processes, and perform various financial analyses in support of the business operations
  • Develop, implement, and maintain procedures to improve efficiency of financial functions, internal controls, and accuracy of financial reporting in accordance with appropriate accounting standards;
  • Review results, make forecasts, and monitor trends in the rail industry, sales, finance, general business conditions, and other related areas and makes recommendations for change where necessary;
  • Perform financial analysis at the highest level to evaluate potential business opportunities and investments;
  • Lead the development/continuous improvement of new systems of analysis and reporting;
  • Identify revenue generating or cost saving opportunities and communicate to Operational Management;
  • Prepare and deliver financial documentation for monthly/quarterly/yearly analysis and executive presentation;
  • Lead the preparation of mid-year reviews and year-end audit processes.
2. Financial Planning
  • Manage the development of profit plans, annual budget and rolling forecasts;
  • Manage the design, development, selection and maintenance of financial planning systems;
  • Manage the financial planning strategies and follow up controls and comparisons relating to both short-term and long-term plans;
  • Manage the planning process, analyze data, and develop strategy for financial planning and analysis functions.
3. Special Projects
  • Manage special projects and project teams as assigned.
Qualifications

Qualifications and Requirements
  • Degree/Diploma in Finance or Accounting;
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a senior level financial management role with direct reports;
  • CPA designation, an asset;
  • Experience within a high-growth organization, preferably in rail or transportation industry;
  • Strong business acumen and ability to communicate ideas clearly and succinctly;
  • A natural people leader who is driven to ensure others are successful (Employees and Customers);
  • Professional written and oral communication as well as impressive presentation skills;
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint;
  • Knowledge of federal and provincial legislation as it pertains to financial reporting.
