Position Summary


We are seeking an experienced and strategic Financial Controller to lead our accounting operations across Canada and the U.S. This senior leadership role is responsible for ensuring financial accuracy, integrity, and compliance while driving efficiencies and supporting long-term strategic planning. The successful candidate will have deep expertise in GAAP (Canadian and U.S.), ASPE and/or IFRS, multi-jurisdictional reporting, and manufacturing environments.

Reporting to the CEO and CFO, the Financial Controller will oversee a skilled team of accounting and administrative professionals and take ownership of full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, tax compliance, internal controls, audit, inventory and cost accounting, ERP system optimization, and treasury management.

This is a hands-on leadership position in a fast-paced, high-growth environment where your expertise will directly influence company performance and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee full-cycle accounting across Canada and the U.S. Lead the preparation of timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP/ASPE/IFRS. Manage budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis across departments and cost centers. Ensure accurate inventory and cost accounting aligned with manufacturing operations. Maintain strong internal controls and ensure regulatory compliance (CRA, IRS, audits). Provide strategic financial insights to executive leadership through modeling and performance reporting. Supervise and mentor the Accounting and Administration team. Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and treasury activities. Drive ERP system optimization and implement process improvements for automation and scalability.

Qualifications

CPA designation (CA, CMA, CGA) required. Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in accounting/finance leadership roles. Strong knowledge of Canadian and U.S. GAAP; experience with ASPE and/or IFRS. Experience managing multi-jurisdictional (Canada/U.S.) financial operations and tax compliance. Background in manufacturing accounting including inventory and cost control. Experience leading audits and implementing internal controls.

Work Location & Travel

Hybrid - Calgary, AB (until office is established) | Occasional travel to Lloydminster, AB & Casper, WY * Full-Time | Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
