About This Opportunity
This position is a key contributor in monthly forecasting, monthly profit & loss statement reviews, reporting, and annual business planning. This position will be responsible for interpreting, analyzing and actioning revenue and operating expense variances. You will analyze results monthly/quarterly for productivity savings initiatives. You will report out variance analysis on a weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual basis and assist in the creation of remaining estimates. In this role you will prepare analysis that provides operational insight at both an Operating Unit level as well as across six Market Units in Western Canada. You will be involved in the annual budget creation inclusive of full operating expenditure planning. On a monthly basis you will present out financial results against the monthly business plan with business partners.
Responsibilities
Assist in the control and maintenance of operating expenditures
Perform month-end and year-end closing functions that pertain to profit and loss statement management
Prepare standardized weekly and monthly operational reports
Perform and report out impacts of revenue and cost variances versus plan for sales, distribution and warehousing explaining why the variances occurred
Working with project team members to understand initiatives and provide logic and templates for tracking productivity initiatives savings for market unit
Verify productivity initiative savings reported by project owners
Participate in month end routines inclusive of detailed Profit and Loss analysis, created accruals, reclasses and reconciliations
Volume/price/mix analysis on market unit revenue
Work with the team in preparing detailed annual budget with business partners and other cross functional teams, scaling and presentation process (creation and delivery)
Focus on continual process improvement and ensure compliance and control, create if/as needed, standard procedures and policies to drive efficiencies and savings
Develop and maintain solid partnerships with stakeholders including finance counterparts, general managers, operations managers and capability leads
Participate and manage ad-hoc projects and other duties as required
Resolve and clearly communicate any issues with relevant stakeholders
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting
Minimum one to three years of experience in accounting or finance
SAP experience is preferred
A strong understanding of Excel is necessary
Excellent analytical approach with an understanding of revenue and spend management
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with others
Strong communication and business writing skills
Flexibility to adjust workload and hours when necessary; particularly during budgeting
Experience with a National Retail, Wholesale or Manufacturing organization would be considered an asset
Potential to travel up to 10% of time within Canada.
