The primary focus of Finance Assistant (Accountant) will involve analyzing and supporting the financial processes for the business in Canada. The role will be responsible for business analysis for our Sales and Service Operations divisions, supporting the monthly closing process, and preparing monthend reports. The role is primarily office based, liaisoning with order fulfilment, sales, logistics, and operations teams as required.

Key tasks will include:

• Ensure accurate and appropriate recording and analysis of revenues and expenses.
• Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
• Establish and monitor the implementation and maintenance of accounting control procedures.
• Prepare profit and loss statements and monthly closing and cost accounting reports.
• Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, and document business transactions.
• Collect, compile, verify and analyze the financial figures and make financial and accounting reports for the decision makers.
• Review results with management, and offer suggestions for improvement
• Balance sheet reconciliations
• Responsible for Tax accounting
• Backup for Treasury function
• Closing of local books.

Key competencies will include:

• Technically well-versed in the use of Excel to generate analyses and ad-hoc reports
• Able to work in an integrated ERP involvement, and to understand the interactions of the various functions and transactions and how each in turn affects results.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to express ideas clearly in both written and verbal form.
• Strong attention to detail and follow-up
• Able to work as part of a team.
• Knowledge of the order-to-cash value stream

Education (degree or years) and/or Certification/Registration:

• A degree or diploma in accounting
• Advanced Excel Skills
• Experience working in a complex ERP environment is preferred.

Type and Length of Experience:

• 2-3 years of experience in an accounting or business analysis role
