Description :OverallThe Restructuring and Insolvency Administrator is responsible for managing and administering the insolvency estates of businesses undergoing bankruptcy or insolvency proceedings in Quebec and Ontario. The role involves assisting Licensed Insolvency Trustees (LITs) in executing the duties and responsibilities required under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act (BIA).Key ResponsibilitiesAssist Licensed Insolvency Trustees (LIT\xe2\x80\x99s) in managing and administering bankruptcy and insolvency cases, including preparing and filing necessary documents with the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy (OSB).

  • Open new files in Ascend (Insolvency software)
  • Prepare forms required by the OSB for all statutory Insolvency related proceedings
  • Prepare and maintain creditor list
  • Verify balance sheet and prepare statement of affairs
  • E-Filing documents with the OSB
  • Set up first meeting of creditors
  • Prepare newspaper ad
  • Prepare creditor packages
  • Prepare mailing
  • Email Creditor packages
  • Prepare mail affidavit
Banking
  • Complete forms to open new bank accounts
  • Maintain bank accounts with several banks
  • Prepare wire transfers, cheques, deposits
  • Review of bank accounts on a daily basis
  • Prepare bank reconciliations
  • Verify bank reconciliations
  • Prepare bank confirmations
  • Annual banking report required by the OSB
  • Assist with banking audits by the OSB
GST / QST
  • Prepare forms to open new GST /QST numbers with the Government
  • Prepare monthly GST/QST returns
  • Reconcile GST/QST
  • Communications with Government regarding problems that arise
Payroll
  • Prepare payroll
  • Prepare deductions at source
  • Prepare records of employment
  • Prepare T4\xe2\x80\x99s and R1 and summary
Proof of claims
  • Review proof of claims, enter
  • Verify the validity of the proof of claims
  • Communications with creditors regarding errors in proof of claims
  • Prepare disallowances
Wage Earner Protection Plan (WEPP)
  • Prepare information to complete claims for employees WEPP
  • Enter Trustee Information Form on Service Canada website.
  • Update payments made by Service Canada to employee
  • Respond to employees inquires
Prepare process for discharge of Trustee
  • Prepare statement of receipts and disbursements
  • Review general ledger make any adjustment required
  • Verify work in process, prepare invoices
  • Verify Trustee fees
  • Verify taxation of legal invoices
  • Prepare dividend sheet
  • Prepare minutes and resolutions
  • File documents with the OSB
  • Prepare taxation documents and file with court, once documents approved with the Court file with Caseline.
  • Prepare fee affidavit
  • Prepare application of discharge of Trustee notice to Creditors and file with Court
  • Prepare discharge and file with Court, once filed with Court file the documents with Caseline for the Register
Qualifications
  • Relevant experience in insolvency or in a related field (finance, banking, insurance, legal or other), an important asset
  • DEC or Diploma in a finance, legal or accounting-related field or any other similar field of study
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel advanced level), Adobe and good capacity to learn specialized software
  • Knowledge of Ascend, an asset
  • Perfect French, English is an asset.
