Field Technician

Indoor Environmental Quality/Occupational Health and Safety

St. John\xe2\x80\x99s, Newfoundland, and Labrador

Today is the day to boost your career! Pinchin is seeking a Field Technician to join our Indoor Environmental Quality team in St. John\xe2\x80\x99s office.

Reporting to the Team Leader, the Field Technician will conduct effective worker exposure and workplace monitoring, safety inspections and audits. Also, provide occupational health and safety (OH&S) consulting services to external clients in the areas of OH&S management, technical services, and training.

A Day in the life of a Field Technician at Pinchin:

  • Complete assessments for mould, indoor air quality (IAQ), designated substances and other hazardous materials
  • Conduct interviews with clients regarding building history and site-specific client concerns.
  • Perform inspections and evaluate building systems.
  • Assess building damages related to floods, water losses, smoke and fire
  • Assist clients following flood and loss emergencies to get buildings dried, cleaned or remediated and operational.
  • Collect a variety of air and bulk (mould, asbestos, lead, dust, bacteria, etc.) samples
  • Completed Occupational Hygiene surveys (e.g. noise assessments, potable water, airborne sampling for various chemicals)
  • Assist with developing various types of hygiene, health and safety documentation, such as exposure control plans, Health and Safety programs, policies and safe work/operating procedures (i.e. confined space, fall protection, respiratory protection etc.), and technical worker exposure assessments
  • Interpret laboratory results
  • Prepare detailed reports documenting findings and provide recommendations to address concerns
  • Inspect abatement and restoration contractors undertaking mould, asbestos and other hazardous materials remediation work to document that the work has been properly completed
  • Assist project managers and financial group in preparation of invoices and collections of bills
What you bring to the Pinchin team:
  • College diploma in Architectural Technology or Occupational Health Safety or Hygiene, or Bachelor of Science in Engineering or equivalent
  • Entry level to two years of experience is preferred.
  • Consulting industry experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Strong client interfacing and customer services skills
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and execute detailed instructions
  • Valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license, insurance and a personal vehicle required
  • Availability to travel to clients\xe2\x80\x99 sites
  • Availability to work outside of core business hours (occasional evening and weekends)
