Job Summary:



We are seeking a highly skilled

Field Technician II

to join our team. This role involves installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing

cabling, fiber optics, access control systems, CCTV, antennas, point-of-sale (POS) systems, and digital displays

. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with structured cabling, low-voltage systems, networking, and field service work, ensuring top-tier performance and reliability of mission-critical systems.

Key Responsibilities:



General Duties:



o Perform installation, maintenance, and repairs on field equipment, systems, and infrastructure.

o Diagnose technical issues and provide effective solutions onsite or remotely.

o Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.

o Work with senior technicians and engineers to improve service efficiency.

o Document all service activities, including diagnostics, repairs, and parts used.

o Maintain compliance with safety regulations and company policies.

o Provide technical support and training to clients or team members as needed.

o Travel to different field locations as required.

Cabling & Fiber Optics:



o Travel to different field locations as required.

o Install, terminate, and test copper (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a) and fiber optic cables.

o Perform structured cabling installations for data, voice, and video networks.

o Troubleshoot and repair connectivity issues, ensuring minimal downtime.

o Conduct fiber splicing, testing (OTDR, light source, and power meter), and documentation.

o Follow industry standards (TIA/EIA, BICSI) and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Access Control Systems:



o Install, configure, and maintain electronic door access systems, keypads, and card readers.

o Run cabling for access control systems and integrate with security networks.

o Diagnose and repair access control system failures or malfunctions.

o Work with security teams to enhance building and perimeter security.

CCTV & Surveillance Systems:



o Install and configure IP and analog CCTV cameras, NVRs, and DVRs.

o Perform system integrations, remote access setup, and networking configurations.

o Troubleshoot and repair surveillance system issues, ensuring high uptime.

o Conduct periodic maintenance, software updates, and camera adjustments.

Antennas & Wireless Systems:



o Install and align antennas for wireless communication, including Wi-Fi and radio systems.

o Conduct RF testing and signal strength analysis to optimize performance.

o Maintain and troubleshoot antenna systems for interference or hardware failures.

Point-of-Sale (POS) Systems:



o Install and configure POS hardware, including terminals, printers, and scanners.

o Perform software updates, network connectivity checks, and troubleshooting.

o Ensure seamless integration with inventory and payment processing systems.

o Provide user training and support for POS system operations.

Digital Displays & Signage:



o Install and configure digital displays, LED screens, and interactive kiosks.

o Troubleshoot and repair display hardware, software, and network connections.

o Ensure proper content playback, resolution settings, and system functionality.

o Work with content management systems (CMS) for remote updates and scheduling.

Qualifications & Skills:



Diploma or certification in

Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, IT, or a related field

.

BICSI, FOA, or manufacturer-specific certifications

(e.g., Panduit, Corning, Bosch, HID) are highly desirable. Valid

Fall Protection, WHMIS, and Occupational Health & Safety certifications

are an asset. 2-5 years of experience in

low-voltage field service work

, including cabling, fiber optics, access control, CCTV, antennas, POS, and digital signage. Hands-on experience with

testing and troubleshooting tools

such as OTDR, TDR, multimeters, and signal analyzers Strong knowledge of

networking fundamentals

, including TCP/IP, VLANs, PoE, and wireless communication protocols Proficiency in

structured cabling, fiber splicing, and low-voltage system installations

. Experience working with

hand tools, power tools, and specialized testing equipment

. Ability to

read blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams

. Familiarity with industry standards like

EIA/TIA, IEEE, NEC, and NFPA

. Basic programming and troubleshooting of

CCTV, access control, and POS software

.

Valid driver's license

and ability to travel within the province or country as needed. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to

lift and carry up to 50 lbs

and work in confined spaces or at heights. Excellent customer service skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
Ability to use hand tools and diagnostic equipment.

Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical, mechanical, or IT systems. Proficiency with diagnostic tools and software. Knowledge of networking, hardware, and field communication systems (if applicable).
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Compensation:



Hourly Rate:

$30 CAD per hour

Annual Salary:

$62,400 CAD per year
