Your Opportunity

An opportunity exists for an Indigenous participant to support field work for monitoring activities associated with the access management plan for the NGTL North Montney Mainline within the Peace-Moberly Tract.

In this role, you will be assisting with monitoring of access control integrity (e.g., breach, bypass, or damage). These activities will be conducted from the air while transiting via helicopter between camera monitoring locations and on the ground for remote camera servicing.

Qualifications

Your Duties, Capabilities, and Credentials

The work will be conducted during the day. The Field Technician(s) will receive training and orientation required to complete tasks. Candidates are required to be fit for duty and be able to perform key physical tasks of the job as described in the job postings and interview. This includes working in a variety of environmental conditions, such as potentially remote or isolated areas, and in inclement weather. This is a good opportunity for someone who is interested in or has experience with biology/environmental sciences/archaeology & paleontology and is physically fit.

Requirements:

Physical fitness for duty - Able to lift up to 50 pounds and endure long days of physically and mentally challenging field work while maintaining a positive, solutions-focused attitude

Comfortable working outside all day in a range of weather conditions; technicians must be prepared for hot and cold field temperatures and rain

Comfortable working in and near water

Willingness to take direction from Crew Lead and demonstrate a strong team approach that values learning and communications to achieve successful and safe outcomes

Communication, collaboration, and organization skills

There is potential to work away from home and stay in a hotel for some shifts. Willingness and availability will be discussed during interview but if personal circumstances do not allow, efforts will be made to accommodate local work only

Valid driver's license with a clean driver's abstract may be required

Team members will need to meet basic fit for work requirements including a drug and alcohol screening

Logistics and Equipment:

Anticipated one week of paid mandatory new-hire training to be provided virtually and in-person prior to fieldwork.

This role requires a strong commitment to safety and Field Technician(s) will be required to wear PPE.

Technicians will provide their own steel-toed boots.

Other:

Meal per diem will be provided

Typical work schedule: Shift work 7 days/week; anticipated 8-12 hours/day depending on field program

Field work may not happen each day of the week; the Crew Lead will confirm the schedule with the Field Technician
