Your Impact:

We are looking for a Field Team Lead for the construction of a contaminated mine water treatment plant near the Town of Faro, Yukon, Canada. The Permanent Water Treatment Plant (PWTP) is a key part of the Faro Mine Remediation Project that is run by the Government of Canada. Jacobs has designed the PWTP for the Government of Canada and will serve as the Engineer of Record during construction. Any construction direction to the General Contractor must be through the Main Construction Manager (MCM). Jacobs primary role consists of field reviews, quality assurance, responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, communicating with on-site stakeholders (contractor, MCM, Canada), and keeping the EoR\xe2\x80\x99s informed.

The expectation is that work will start virtually in February/March 2024 with design team discussions and project documentation familiarization. Field work will start in April to coincide with the construction period that will run from April to October in 2024. This role has the option of extending into future construction seasons. Construction will continue until the end of 2026, with commissioning planned for 2027. It is anticipated that this scope of work will be completed using an hours-averaged shift rotation. Exact rotations are to be determined, but it is anticipated to be 12-hour days, two weeks on/two weeks off. Jacobs has a townhouse rented in Faro for the field team. For the 2024 construction season, we are looking for an individual with construction experience involving concrete, rebar, and associated civil works. We are also looking for senior inspectors or resident engineers under separate expressions of interest that are also open now.

Primary responsibilities of this role:

Manage the field team, site reviews, and documentation processes related to construction.

Attend all recurring meetings (safety, progress, scheduling) and any design specific meetings related to construction.
Support the review of submittals and RFI\xe2\x80\x99s.
Manage the construction Quality Assurance process.
Coordinate engineering support during construction.
Coordinate the field engineering with the main construction manager.
Engage and work closely with engineering team to resolve design issues, implement required changes, address deficiencies, and provide additional details.
Be the primary point of contact for Jacobs on site; lead all interactions with the Main Construction Manager (Parsons), Client (Government of Canada), Contractors, other stakeholders, and external consultants.
Promote Jacobs\xe2\x80\x99 BeyondZero policies and maintain a safe work environment on site.

Logistics associated with this role:

Requires seasonal shift work in Faro, Yukon.
Relocation to the Town of Faro, Yukon or Whitehorse, Yukon is also an option. Open to discussing relocation assistance if required.
Team housing in Faro will be provided, as will a vehicle.
12-hour days are expected on site; 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off.
Per diem will be paid out for on-site and travel days.
Availability: due to the nature of construction work, at least 75% availability will be required for this work on average. Other projects can be supported virtually while on-site; however, construction work must take priority.

Here\xe2\x80\x99s What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Need:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience, including field work, preferably on mine water remediation or municipal water treatment projects.
  • Excellent communication skills with clients, contractors, engineers, and operations.
  • Ability to learn and understand the water treatment process as well as read engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Construction Management experience is an asset but not required.
  • Remote location work experience is an asset but not required.
The base salary range for this position is $83,800 to $109,950. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across British Columbia, Canada locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
