Position Overview:
The Field Survey Assistant works primarily in the field under the direction of a Project Manager and a Field Survey Technician (Party Chief). The Field Survey Assistant will assist the Party Chief in all aspects of survey work. They will work on a wide range of projects from land development and strata/air space work, topographic and rights-of-way surveys for infrastructure and capital works projects, construction and monitoring surveys, surveys on First Nation lands and many other diverse types of surveys.
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Set up and use a variety of surveying instruments such as total stations, GNSS receivers etc.
  • Assist Party Chiefs in preparation of field survey records.
  • Assist in organization and maintenance of survey equipment.
  • Clear vegetation and debris for measurements to be taken.
  • Follow all safety guidelines provided by Aplin & Martin.
  • Be a positive representative of the company to your co-workers, the public, and clients; and,
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:
  • 1 year of local experience
  • Survey or Geomatics Technology Diploma is an asset.
  • Some work experience in a legal survey environment is preferred.
  • Physically fit and capable of lifting and carrying survey equipment.
  • Ability to work in a variety of outdoor settings and weather conditions.
  • Ability to work as a team member and take direction.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally.
  • Valid BC driver\xe2\x80\x99s license.
  • Available to work out of town occasionally, and,
  • Availability of personal vehicle for business use (mileage will be compensated).
