MAIN FUNCTIONS




Reporting to the VP Commercial North America, the

Field Solutions Director

leads the North American Field Solutions team of technical field ambassadors. The Field Solutions team supports both internal and external groups: supports and trains the sales team on technical aspects; adapts products to local needs; oversees field work, data analysis, reporting, and communication with internal teams and customers; and manages response to field performance-related customer complaints.


Management




Contribute to the strategy for North America. Develop, implement and communicate the FS plan. Adapt and implement priorities. Establishes and implements tactical plan to achieve the territory goals. Establishes and manages the FS budget. Responsible for achievement.

Technical support




Develop and communicate technical package for products that is adapted to the crop/target and delivers specific value to the market. Develop and communicate crop/target-specific product programs, in collaboration with marketing team. Lead response to field performance-related complaints. Coordinate with the FS team, Product Managers, and other relevant stakeholders to design and implement comprehensive training programmes and schedules that deliver technical instruction to sales teams and distributor partner teams. Conduct and manage trials for product registrations in compliance with technical requirements. Support sales teams in the development and maintenance of customer relationships. Develop the experimentation plan and associated budget in collaboration with Strategic Marketing and Sales. Define priorities and targets in collaboration with Product Managers and Commercial team.

Team management




Promotes and implements BU's vision, direction and framework for human resource management and practices. Manages direct reports and closely monitors indirect reports: recruitment, onboarding, training, workflow organization, activity and performance tracking, schedule management, performance evaluation, skills and career development, etc. Develop and harmonize methods and tools to ensure the successful execution of the annual plan and communication with relevant stakeholders.

Internal and external relations




Internal: The Field Solutions Director works in collaboration with technical sales, marketing, product management and other internal cross-functional groups as needed. External: Growers, crop advisors, distribution partners, key influencers, government, experimentation centers, university and other research institutes, prescribers, grower organizations and cooperatives. Build relationships with new partners/customers.

TECHNICAL SKILLS




Required




MSc or equivalent qualification in Agronomy, Plant Pathology, or a related discipline. A PhD is preferred 15+ years combining technical support in USA or Canadian agriculture/horticulture market - in the field, extension research, and direct experience with customers and other stakeholders 7+ years experience in a leadership role Expert-level understanding of microorganism-based products for agriculture Expert-level knowledge of agronomy and modern farming in North America: practices, crops, machines, farm economics, agricultural inputs, distribution, advising, etc Understanding of the current production practices, issues and constraints Designing and managing applied research trials; Experience in experimental design, geo/statistical analyses and communication of results to both scientific and grower stakeholders Proven project and budget management experience Writing and editing technical reports and/or project proposals Technology proficiency in Microsoft 365 suite, Cognos, and at least one standard statistical analyses package (Minitab, R, SAS, SPSS, JMP) Proficiency in oral and written communication in English

An asset




Practical commercial or grower experience in a related field is a strong asset Experience in the microbial biopesticides, inoculants or biofertilizer industry is an asset

GENERAL CRITERIA




Required




Willingness, interest and ability to travel (air and land) up to 50% per year, including international travel. Additional travel may occasionally occur for training and meetings Possess a valid passport, driver's license, and clean driver record Ability to exert moderate physical effort: walking in grower environments in the presence of heavy equipment and crop inputs used in grower environments, hot/cold weather, lifting loads or carrying equipment weighing up to 20 kg/44 lb, sit for long period (car/plane)
