Major Duties


The Field Service Representative - Controls Engineering is responsible for all quoting activities required to meet their customer quote requirements in a timely manner including gathering, creating or providing information as needed. The Service Representative is also accountable for machinery repairs, programming and service at customer facilities for both warranty and non-warranty issues. They will also be the main service contact for strategic customer accounts.


  • Provide detailed customer quotations as required.
  • Main contact for both internal and external customer with service requirements.
  • Travel to both domestic and international customer locations as required (up to 50% travel required)
  • Make follow-up calls with customer to verify the need for future service calls.
  • Assist Manager in budgeting, capital planning and resolving accounts receivable issues.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical equipment at the customer\xe2\x80\x99s facility and make the necessary adjustments to bring equipment up to running status.
  • Advise management regarding customer satisfaction and product performance and make suggestions for product improvements.
  • Provide/arrange for customer training as required.
  • Work with suppliers to resolve technical issues at customers\xe2\x80\x99 sites.
  • Instruct and direct workers in servicing and repairing equipment.
  • Consult with engineering personnel to resolve unusual problems in system operation and maintenance.
  • Responsible for completion of various reporting requirements.
  • Responsible to execute contracts to completion.
  • Available to be on call on a rotational basis and take the lead to help non-service personnel on call at any time.
  • Actively work with Sales and the Manager on account management and development.
  • Assist with Spare Parts and other department staff as defined by the Manager.
  • Take on temporary or permanent assignments as defined by the Manager.

  • Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.
  • Adhere to all ATS health and safety rules and procedures.
  • Follow customer\xe2\x80\x99s plant and safety regulations while at their facility.
  • Work in compliance with divisional health, safety and environmental procedures.
  • Refrain from removing or altering safety devices or guarding unless hazardous energies are controlled through lockout-tagout methods.
  • Report any unsafe conditions or unsafe acts.
  • Report defect in any equipment or protective device.
  • Ensure that the required protective equipment is used for the assigned tasks.
  • Attend all required health, safety and environmental training.
  • Report any accidents/incidents to supervisor.
  • Assist in investigating accidents/incidents.


Additional Information


Education:
  • A post-secondary engineering degree, diploma or equivalent, specializing in mechanical, electrical, systems or computer engineering.

Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a hands-on programming environment
  • Strong programming, mechanical and electrical problem solving skills.
  • Understanding of robotics, control systems and machine operation with hands-on experience is desirable.
  • Must be able to work in a multi-disciplined engineering environment, often under pressure and strict time constants.
  • Experience in dealing with customers to resolve problems is required.
  • The ability to read drawings, reference manuals and assembly systems instruction guides is essential.
  • Must have experience and be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Individual must have the ability to gain knowledge to readily determine parts of an assembly.
  • Requires excellent interpersonal and commercial skills.
